Marking the fireplace at the dacha, guided by ready-made plan, make it easier and more convenient. For marking, you will need the following tools: tape measure, pegs, plumb line and a ball of twine.

Digging a hole and preparing a concrete mixture

Having marked the place, a hole 50-60 cm deep is dug in the ground. Afterwards, concrete should be mixed with fine crushed stone.

The approximate composition of the mixture is taken from the calculation: for 45 kg of sand - 30 kg of crushed stone and 15 kg of cement, water is added until the required mobility of the mixture. Alternatively, you can use ready-mix concrete grade 100.

Selection of stones and their placement

The contours of the hearth itself are laid out from stones at the bottom of the pit, simultaneously securing them with concrete mortar.

To create a fireplace you will need flat stones 5-10 cm thick various sizes. Stones can be very different (with the exception of porous shell rocks and limestones).

The bottom of the fireplace is also made of a concrete pad at least 10 cm thick. Holes are left in the concrete itself to drain rainwater. If necessary, the holes can be used for installation various designs for frying meat and grilled vegetables.

The sinuses from the outer walls of the fireplace are filled with excavated soil and compacted.

At the same time, backfilling is done in such a way that there remains a space under a thickness of 10-15 cm to the level of the top of the soil. To do this, concrete is laid around the hearth with large flat stones embedded in it.

Laying a fireplace with stones

The easiest way to have a beautiful front lawn

You've certainly seen the perfect lawn in a movie, on an alley, or perhaps on your neighbor's lawn. Those who have ever tried to grow a green area on their site will no doubt say that it is a huge amount of work. The lawn requires careful planting, care, fertilization, and watering. However, only inexperienced gardeners think this way; professionals have long known about the innovative product - liquid lawn AquaGrazz.

But, having built a fireplace at your dacha, you must, first of all, remember about safety measures. If you decide to build such a fireplace with your own hands, then it should be located as far as possible from various flammable structures: buildings, residential buildings, tree plantings, and shrubs. When using a fireplace during windy conditions, there is a possibility of fire even in a house that is located on long distance, in this case you should use special protective screens.

Hearth on the street

It's quite easy to build fireplaces yourself for a very short term, and this process will take you at most your weekend. For its construction, you can use almost any materials:

  • boulder,
  • brick,
  • concrete blocks and so on.

An open fireplace, as in the photo, is easy to build, and for this you only need cinder block brick or ordinary brick. It is better to make the walls of the hearth from wider and larger bricks, from this important moment The strength of the walls depends.

The number of bricks that you will need to build such an important building with your own hands as a fireplace on your site will depend on the exact size of the fireplace you want to build, how thick the material will be, and on the number of rows when building the wall. An open fireplace in a house should be built by preparing the foundation for a future structure at your dacha; you should not light a fire on the soil, since it will be very difficult to remove coals or firewood from its surface. In this case, you can simply lay an ordinary thick iron sheet, but its dimensions must be larger than the dimensions of the circle of this structure.

Next, we move on to preparing the base of the fireplace, to do this we fill it mortar, you can also use concrete, then we begin to lay out the bricks. But also take into account the size of the fireplace before construction; it is better to choose a medium size, because you will subsequently light a fire in it.

Open hearth

After choosing a place for the fireplace, you need to mark its territory on the ground and take measurements. During this process, you can also roughly calculate how much brick will be needed for construction work. In most cases, the owners own home they decide to use the hearth for cooking food, like a grill. And to mark its contours and dimensions, you should place a grill grate on the ground. The dimensions of the grill grate should be larger than the dimensions of the wall on the sides.

Laying a brick base without mortar

When the foundation, built by the hands of the owner at the dacha, is ready, the construction of walls can begin. The first of the rows of bricks must be laid near the base of a structure such as a fireplace, in a circle, so that the ends are in contact with each other. If during construction you use bricks that have holes, then it is better to build brick walls so that the holes are turned towards the ground or upward. Brick wall should be monolithic both outside and inside.

After laying the first row, you need to start laying the second layer. The second row must be laid on the first, and one should not forget about the joints of the bricks. Next, we lay the wall until it rises to the required height, which is convenient for use. In the end, our fireplace at the dacha will turn out to be slightly uneven; for this, its walls should be lined in some places, and in some places leveled, and the cracks should be covered with cement mortar. The last row of bricks must be laid with a special mortar.

Laying fireplace walls

Option for laying brick walls with mortar

You can build a fireplace with your own hands directly on the mortar. Brick laying work is carried out in the same way as in the above-described option. The main difference is the need to lay it more evenly and immediately start caulking the seams. And in the end you won’t need to knock down protruding elements.

The open hearth should be of such a height as to be comfortable for grilling food. If, during the laying of such an important structure, you still have extra bricks, then they can be used to build a ring around it to strengthen the structure, while the first row is strengthened. A home-made fireplace with such a base will be much more stable and durable.

“You can endlessly look at three things: a burning fire, running water and how another person works.” Let's focus on the first one.

Indeed, fire has a magical effect. It attracts, relaxes, fascinates and creates an atmosphere of warmth and comfort, conducive to relaxation and intimate conversations. Therefore, it is worth introducing such an interesting decorative element as a garden hearth into the design of your site.

In addition to standard wood-burning hearths, models equipped with gas devices, making ignition quick and easy. The choice is yours.

In addition to the aesthetic function, you can give the fireplace a practical one by providing options for installing grill structures or fixing skewers. So you can have a friendly conversation and barbecue.

Selecting a location

The choice of location for installing the fireplace should be approached with all responsibility. Since the hearth presupposes open fire, it is better if the site for arrangement is isolated from the house and other buildings, as well as spreading trees.

To avoid flooding your fire pit, avoid low-lying and poorly drained areas, and do not locate your fire pit on a hill. The area near the fireplace should be lined with bricks, slabs or pebbles.

Portable garden hearth can be compact and easy to use, as you can easily install it in any suitable area of your garden. A mobile garden hearth can be ceramic, metal or cast iron.

You can also choose a fireplace complete with a lid and barbecue grate. In such foci there is pull-out tray for convenient cleaning of ash and coals. A stylish designer hearth will decorate the garden even during the day and without fire.

A stationary hearth will become a favorite place to relax in your garden if you organize it in suitable place and decorate in a certain style.

Choose the right place for your fire pit, preferably a paved area. Calculate the safe distance from the fire to seating areas and other objects, this is approximately 70-90 cm. The hearth itself can be of any shape, but a round hearth with a diameter of 90-110 cm is more practical in access and maintenance. With this size it will be convenient to relax and communicate comfortably .

The walls of the fire pit can be made of concrete blocks, paving slabs, brick or natural stone. Granite cobblestone fireplace different sizes and the form will become a work of art.

Make the walls at least 15 cm thick - this will protect the hearth from overheating and destruction. Also on the wide sides you can place the necessary items for relaxation or for barbecuing. When building a fireplace, use only fire-resistant materials. To prevent rain from flooding the fireplace, provide a cover.

An interesting solution for arranging an area with a fireplace is to deepen the entire recreation area relative to the rest of the landscape surface.

Dinner at the hearth table will be interesting, fascinating and romantic. The most suitable table for this would be a table with a built-in gas fireplace. You can buy such a table in a store or make it yourself. The fire in the hearth is directed perpendicularly, so the risk of getting burned is minimal, and you will get maximum pleasure from such a dinner.

In addition, such tables are also suitable for barbecue and kebabs.

It is quite possible to create a hearth with your own hands. At the same time, you will take into account your preferences, think about where to store firewood and grates, the number of places and the size of the fireplace, and you will also be able to maintain a style that matches your site. Interesting options fire pits:

  • in the form of a barrel, upholstered in metal with metal chairs in the same style
  • a gabion hearth does not require much effort to create, it looks natural and unusual
  • fireplace with wood storage area

Fire and water are two amazing opposite elements. They attract, fascinate and calm. Place a fireplace near the pool. Such a duet will create an incredible relaxation zone. Nearby you can place a small table for drinks, sun loungers or armchairs.
You can also combine the hearth with a fountain or mini-pond.

Garden fireplace as lighting

The garden fireplace can be used as lighting for a romantic evening. For this purpose, small designer hearths are used. They can be placed in groups along the path, around the pool or near the recreation area. Do not forget about the safe location of the fireplace in relation to other objects.

Arrangement of a recreation area with a fireplace

What could be better than on a quiet summer evening to settle down in a cozy armchair and enjoy the crackling of wood in the fire or inhale the aromas of cooking barbecue. To do this, you need to comfortably arrange the area around your fireplace.

Portable furniture (chairs, armchairs, benches) is more convenient to use, but looks less impressive than installed to match the hearth. You can lay out a stationary semicircular stone bench, decorating it with beautiful pillows.

Large stones or stumps can be used as chairs, which is suitable for a “wild garden” style area. You can combine garden furniture with stationary seating.

Interesting and convenient solution There will be a combination of a bench or shelves with a firewood rack. You can select several niches for firewood in the bench, decorating them, or, conversely, make interesting shelves in the woodshed for things needed for lighting a fire or preparing food.

The hearth itself is already original decorative element. You can only enhance the effect with the help of interesting paving of the site, stylish design seats. You can also complement the relaxation area with flowers in flowerpots or decorative sculptures. But don't overdo it. In an area with a fireplace, it is best to create the illusion of a natural landscape.

It’s not always possible to go into the forest, but to light a fire in the yard apartment building forbidden. But owners of suburban areas have an alternative. Fire bowls are perfect for lovers of barbecues and friendly conversations around the fire. Observing certain rules and requirements for the construction of the structure can be obtained great place for family leisure.

The most common option is a hearth base made of stone ( open type), above which rises a grill, barbecue or other cooking appliances. It is important to comply with all requirements fire safety(using a special fire-resistant glue, moving away the place where firewood is stored, having a constant supply of water next to the hearth, in case of unforeseen circumstances), and for maximum comfortable cleaning they create a flat bottom. Self-construction Even a beginner can do this design.

The safest option for a fire pit is an earthen hearth (deep type). A special recess is created in the ground, reinforced with concrete and stone, in which a flame can be ignited. A special nuance is that there may be insufficient oxygen access for a good flame. A fireplace of this type requires shelter from precipitation and creation of safety (distance from the playground) for children.

A fireplace in the form of a Russian stove or an entire outdoor complex (oven, barbecue, smokehouse) belongs to closed type. Most quick way- purchase finished design and installation by specialists. Variety of models different manufacturers provides for operation on gas or solid fuel. True connoisseurs exclusive design make a choice in favor self-creation fire pits

Selecting a location

Regardless of the type and functions of the fire pit, the site for its creation is selected, first of all, taking into account fire safety. The aesthetic and ethical aspects are taken into account. The following requirements are met:

  • the distance from trees, bushes and buildings should be at least 5 meters;
  • location of the fire on the windward side may cause inconvenience to neighbors;
  • It is unacceptable to create a fire near storage areas household chemicals or flammable materials;
  • the presence of drafts and their direction are taken into account;
  • Colorful cobblestones and gravel will not only decorate the area with the hearth, but also protect it.

A fire pit is not a universal landscape decoration; it will not suit every style. Its harmonious location on the site is an important and difficult task. Fire cannot exist, like a flowerbed, just for beauty. It certainly performs certain functions: it helps to warm up, relax, prepare food and drinks. It is always the center of the relaxation or lunch area. For very small plot This idea won't work. The area of the patio or terrace should be paved with brick or stone, with fire-resistant properties. Only safe materials are used to prevent the possible spread of fire.

A place to enjoy the fire and contemplate its grandeur is arranged with maximum comfort. Most often these are semicircular shapes, forged garden furniture, availability is required dining table. The design of the combustion zone determines appearance patio or recreation area. It is preferable to use natural materials.

Use in landscape design

It is important not only to fit the fire pit harmoniously into the overall picture of the site, but also to beautifully design this area, combining as much as possible all the required elements. Such an area would not be complete without greenery. Calming, calm green shades, without bright and variegated inflorescences, make up a tandem where one object complements the other. A well-groomed emerald lawn will be a good companion. The hearth against its background will become more natural and natural, as if in “ wildlife" Its serene naturalness allows you to relax and unwind from the bustling city.

In chalet or country styles, the fireplace is combined on the same site with an artificial pond. Large stone boulders are chosen to decorate it. In this case, fire personifies rustic simplicity, which does not tolerate exoticism. The most suitable plants for decorating a fire pit in the country house or in the yard are pine trees, pansies, juniper, hosta, chamomile, poppy, edelweiss and others. If the owners want to have a recreation area on their site that is not afraid of the vagaries of the weather, then a fireplace is created on the covered veranda.

It is important that every detail matches the same style. A seemingly insignificant nuance can destroy organicity and naturalness. Lighting is chosen with care. These can be street lanterns for an outdoor area, or lanterns on a chain for an indoor area. Stones that glow are gaining popularity. These energy-saving lighting devices do not require sockets, wires, or batteries. Their power source is solar energy. Modern devices, with the latest technology, do not fit into the image of a quiet oasis. All decorative items are artificially aged or initially selected retro style. Traces of communications are carefully masked. To create coziness and comfort, a partially open veranda with benches and swings is created around the fireplace.

Fire pit design options

Concrete blocks that are easy to replace paving slabs or cobblestones are considered optimal, simple, and beautiful material. This design is secured using a mortar with fire-resistant additives. For natural stones use a solution for a clay oven. The area around the fire should be free within a radius of 90 cm to protect from sparks. The double ring made of corrugated steel remains in demand in arranging fireplaces. The fastening material is a self-tapping screw.

The area around the fire is laid out in the shape of a solar circle. A stone of a different shade represents the rays. This creative and original approach gave rise to a lot of ideas for decorating the fire pit. A place to relax with a fire gives a variety of appearances: a lunar crater, gem, outdoor fireplace etc.

An exclusive hearth of original shape is created depending on general style personal plot. Adherents of the natural style choose huge stone boulders to decorate the fire pit. Next to such a fire, one feels the primitive power and splendor of the elements. Textural contrast, for the same classic landscape treatment, will create a fire pit design garden wall made of stone.

The hearth does not have to be wood-burning. A gas flame can easily replace log fire. It is more complex in the technical part, but simpler in operation. By choosing a non-standard shape, for example an elongated one, and carefully thinking through the paving scheme, you can create an effective composition for the Art Nouveau style. During the day, such a flame is not noticeable, but at night it transforms the area, completely changing its usual atmosphere.

Using a fire pit private territory convenient to divide into zones. The location of such a site is noticeably lower if we compare it with its neighbors. This safety measure is played out in an original way in the relief and design as a whole. On a flat surface, part of the earth is removed.

Relaxation area equipped with summer cottage will become your favorite place to spend time near the fire with friends and family.

If you like to spend time in the country, then undoubtedly, on your suburban area must be equipped fire pit. We will tell you how to make a fire pit in your country house with your own hands in this article. We share our experience in arranging and decorating the hearth. In our master class we will tell you how to make a fire pit in your country house with your own hands.

In front of us is a ready-made recreation area with a fire pit. Before you get started, you will need the following building materials and tools.

Materials and tools for building a fire pit with your own hands:
  • Cement: 5-6 bags
  • Heat-resistant adhesive for stoves and fireplaces: 5-6 bags
  • Construction reinforcement 8-10 mm: 10 pieces of 60 cm each.
  • Sandstone: 750 kg
  • Fire brick: 60 pcs.
From the tool you will need:
  • Safety glasses
  • Watering hose
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Stone chisel
  • Hammer
  • Shovel
  • Gloves
  • Patience

Before you begin the main work, you must select right place for the fire. Try to place a recreation area with a fireplace away from residential buildings. Remember that smoke from the fire should not enter living areas. If neighbors live around your property, keep in mind that they may also be uncomfortable with the smoke. The most optimal solution will be an agreement with your neighbors on the future location for the fire.

Dimensions of the fire pit

Once a location has been chosen, you need to determine the dimensions of the fire pit. In our master class, the fire pit in the country house (see example in the photo) has the following dimensions.

The hearth diameter is 1.5 m.
Height 45 cm.

The size of the fireplace can be changed as desired. Before starting construction, you can make a preliminary layout of the future hearth.

So, we chose a place for a fire on our summer cottage. We took measurements and made markings using a simple device. To make an even circle, we will use a homemade compass, and to make it you will need: a stick (you can use a pipe or fittings) and a rope.

We determine the center of the fire pit and drive in a stick to which a rope is tied. That's it, our compass is ready. Important! The size of the rope should be equal to the radius of the fireplace.

Advice! To mark the area for the hole, use aerosol can with paint, which can be tied to the end of a rope.

Having made the markings, we determined the place for the foundation of the hearth. Armed with a shovel, we begin to dig a hole. In order for the fire pit to serve you for more than one summer season, we recommend that you first determine the depth of freezing of the soil. Professional builders advise digging a hole for the foundation at least 90 cm deep. You also need to take into account climatic conditions and humidity.

After the foundation pit is ready, we proceed to reinforcing the foundation and pouring it with concrete.

The mixed concrete solution must be poured into the prepared hole; this must be done slowly, allowing the solution to fill all the cavities. When the work of pouring the foundation is completed, it is necessary to level the surface using wooden block or a special spatula. Make sure that concrete mixture lay down straight.

Wait for the solution to dry completely. While the concrete mixture hardens, you can begin to sort the stone. Distribute it so that the large ones are in one pile, the flat ones in the other. Determine which stones you will use for the base of the fireplace.

Advice! Before you begin laying stones with glue, make a test laying of the first row. When selecting stones for the first row, give preference to a smooth and flat stone that does not have any irregularities or bends. Experienced craftsmen, before laying out the stones, they are processed special tool. Giving the base a flat shape.

When foundation dry, you can start laying the first row of stones, using the Tetris principle. Important! The stone blocks should touch each other as tightly as possible.

We admit that this is the most responsible and not rushing job that can take large number time. Advice - be patient, it is this stage of work that determines what a homemade hearth in a summer cottage will look like.

Mix the amount of mortar required for the job, laying out a new batch of stone. The main thing is to take your time and knead required quantity solution, this will help you avoid wasting expensive material.

Advice! To avoid damage to the lawn and site, try to carry out all work in one place.

The task of laying the stone will become more difficult with the new level. Ideally, the top edge of the laid fireplace should be at the same level, because such a fireplace looks beautiful. Aligning the last row of stone is not easy. Use a mallet and hammer, and if you have a power masonry tool, the task of leveling the top edge of the fire pit will be much easier.

The photo above shows the penultimate row of the fire pit, inside which is laid out fire brick, sealed with a special solution.

When laying stone and brick, craftsmen advise leaving small gaps for ventilation. Based on own experience, you don’t have to do this, since the size of the fire pit already provides air access.

When the work of laying stone and brick is completed, the bottom of the pit must be filled with fine gravel. As you use it, it can be easily washed or replaced with a new one.

So, the fireplace you made with your own hands at the dacha is ready, and the next step will be to check it.

Place for a fire, fireplace in the country (photo)

As can be seen from the photo, the grass around the fireplace is heavily trampled. The next step is to arrange the space around the fire pit.

To do this, we take a homemade compass and determine the dimensions of the area around the fireplace. When the marking is done, take a shovel and remove the turf around the hole (see photo below).

Be sure to prepare the area where you will transfer the removed sod and soil in advance. Once the turf around the fire pit is removed, dredge the area to the required depth, but remember that the depth must be at least 8 cm.

Place for a fire, fireplace in the country (photo)

Advice! When this stage of site arrangement is completed, we recommend laying geotextile material on the bottom. This will prevent soil and gravel from coming into contact. Don't forget about climatic conditions and rainy weather.

After the preparation of the site is completed, it must be covered with fine gravel. Try to pick up the right combination the color of the stone and the area to be filled with gravel chips.

If you don't want to use gravel, it can be any other material. For example: garden tiles, small river stones, paving stones, etc. Gravel stone is one of the budget options for arranging a fire pit and it can be replaced at any time with a more suitable one.

So, when all the work on building the fire pit and surrounding area is ready, you can invite your friends and have a party. Before doing this, do not forget to stack the firewood next to the fireplace so that you do not have to carry it from the far side of the site.

If you want to make your fire pit look cozier, plant around it. suitable plants and shrubs. Red, orange and yellow colors will look great.

As can be seen from the photo, the stones left over from the construction were put to use and a small path was laid out with them. Now you can sit comfortably by the fire and spend unforgettable evenings to the sound of firewood crackling in the hearth.
