Sheet music 3 year of release. Samsung Galaxy Note III – bigger, faster, more powerful

Smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note 3 belongs to the “phablet” category, its dimensions are somewhere between the sizes of a typical five-inch smartphone and a seven-inch tablet. The company very carefully increases the size of each subsequent device from the Note generation, therefore, despite the diagonal of 5.7 inches, Note 3 has similar dimensions to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. You can hold a smartphone in one hand, but controlling it with one hand is out of the question; to do this, you need to take the device in one hand and control it with the other. The main material used in the device is plastic, stylized as leather. It is wear-resistant and almost does not “collect” fingerprints, so the material is practical. Despite the large width and thickness, Samsung managed to make the smartphone relatively thin and light. Its weight is 168 grams and its thickness is only 8.4 mm.

Samsung phone Galaxy Note 3 can be bought in three colors: white, black and pink.

Screen - 4.5

The smartphone has a large display diagonal - 5.7 inches, which is why it has such impressive dimensions. Matrix type - Super AMOLED HD, screen resolution - 1920×1080 pixels, PPI - 386, safety glass— Gorilla Glass 3. In our opinion, the screen in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is one of the best in its class: it has a high brightness level, maximum viewing angles, and the picture on such a screen (thanks to high resolution and display size) looks amazing. Separately, it is worth noting the color rendering of the display: the colors on this screen are brighter and more contrasting than in reality, however, the color gamut can be changed in the display settings, and you can choose one that is comfortable for you personally. According to user reviews, it is convenient to read e-books, articles on the Internet and watch videos from the screen of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Camera

The smartphone has a 13 MP camera with LED flash. The maximum resolution for video recording is 1920x1080 pixels, frame rate is 30 frames per second, sound is recorded in stereo mode. The version of the smartphone on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 platform supports video recording at a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels.

Working with text - 5.0

The standard keyboard on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is easy to use, with Swype text input and a separate row of numbers so you don't have to switch to extra character mode when typing numbers. There's also a one-handed keyboard feature that shrinks the keyboard to fit to the right or left edge of the screen, allowing you to type with one hand despite the size of the screen (although turning on this option makes the letters too small). Disadvantages - an inconvenient language switching system: you need to hold your finger on the space bar and swipe left or right. To enter most additional characters, including the comma, you need to call up an additional menu.

Internet - 3.0

The browser in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is great for browsing the Internet: it has the ability to repeatedly zoom the page to fit the text to the width of the screen and a reading mode that adapts the text on the page for more easy reading(when you turn on reading mode, you only see the text and pictures from the article). According to user reviews, this mode is convenient to use when reading large amounts of text on the Internet. On the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, you can use the browser in a pop-up window or place it only on half the screen (multi-view mode). The device has an S Beam function, with which you can quickly transfer files, such as photos, music or videos, from one Note 3 to another using Wi-Fi or NFC, placing them back to back.

Interfaces

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 supports all common wireless interfaces: dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC. Support for Russian LTE (4G) frequencies is implemented only in the version on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 platform.

Multimedia - 4.6

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 plays almost any video without preliminary conversion - the device has support for rare audio formats and video containers. You can select audio tracks in the player; as well as subtitles, both built-in and external. The audio player plays most common as well as rare formats, including uncompressed audio in FLAC format. Thanks to its large diagonal and high-quality screen matrix, as well as an excellent player with support for most formats, subtitles and a selection of audio tracks, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is one of the best smartphones for watching videos.

Opening hours

The device has a removable battery with a capacity of 3300 mAh. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is one of the leaders among current smartphones in terms of operating time. We tested the device in our two standard tests: it is capable of playing HD video at maximum brightness for 11.5 hours, and in music mode the phone died in 66 hours. Separately, we note the removable “battery” of Note 3; now a very small number of top flagships can boast of such a function.

Performance - 2.8

There are two versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on sale - N900 and N9005. The first uses the platform Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5420 with an octa-core processor with four Cortex A15 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz and the other four Cortex A7 cores at 1.3 GHz, Mali-T628 MP6 as the graphics subsystem, impressive performance. Four energy-saving cores are used in undemanding tasks, and in games they are replaced by A15 cores, thanks to which it is possible to achieve good performance in both power and energy saving. The second version is built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 platform with a quad-core processor operating at 2.3 GHz and Adreno 330 graphics subsystem. Volume RAM in both versions it is 3 GB. Both versions demonstrate excellent performance, and the key difference between the device based on the Qualcomm platform is support for Russian LTE frequencies.

Memory - 4.0

The total amount of internal memory in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is 32GB (or 16GB), 26GB is available to the user, there is a slot for a microSD memory card, cards up to 64GB are supported.

Peculiarities

The device has a separate settings item that optimizes the device for one-handed operation. So, the on-screen keyboard, dialer and calculator can be “attached” to the right or left edge of the screen to make them easier to use. Important feature Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a stylus that significantly expands the capabilities of the device. The smartphone recognizes handwritten text made with a stylus, and it also has several programs designed specifically for using the stylus. The stylus of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, compared to the previous version of the smartphone, has become thinner, lighter and more convenient.

The device runs under Samsung's proprietary shell - TouchWiz. The manufacturer added its own browser, dialer, SMS client, music and video players, weather application and many other programs. For example, the S Memo app is a great note-taking app with handwriting support.

Smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900 - review

Despite the fact that I generally have a very good attitude towards Samsung smartphones, some time ago I stopped using them - mainly only because the Super AMOLED matrices used in them were blinded in the sun to the point of almost complete invisibility, which I personally like a simple Spanish pilot was slightly annoyed, because in Spain there is so much of this sun that the country can even export it. But as time passed, Samsung engineers worked hard to bring me back into the fold of the holy Catholic church of smartphone users, and I must say, they have made significant progress in this direction. However, first things first. The hero of our today's show is the hotly anticipated smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which continues the legendary line of the Galaxy Note series. Why did I call this line legendary? Yes, because it was Samsung that first came up with the idea of making a smartphone the size of a shovel. When the Galaxy Note was first shown at a show, short-sighted people pointed at it, laughed and said all sorts of offensive things. And then Note literally blew up the market because it was very popular (well, here we should also note the very smart steps of the company’s marketing department), after which all other companies hastily rushed to release smartphones with a large display, because size still matters . After this, the company released a very successful model Galaxy Note II, and is now present on the market new model- Galaxy Note 3, which the Yulmart online store kindly provided me with for study, so we are now with you and will see what it is.

Price in Moscow: 20-26 thousand rubles Well, the filling of this device is luxurious. Eight-core processor, 3 GB of RAM, Wi-Fi with the latest 802.11ac protocol and dual bands, 13 megapixel camera, powerful removable battery, memory card support. Beauty! The only thing missing is support for LTE networks: by the way, the Galaxy Note 3 has it, but the other model (N9005) is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 system. Scope of delivery Traditional packaging in the "tie a yellow ribbon on an old oak" style.

Today's team lineup: smartphone, USB 3.0 cable, power adapter, battery, stereo headset with in-ear headphones, brochures, a set of replacement S-Pen nibs, and a nib ejector.

Appearance and features From the front, the new model is not too different from its predecessor. White plastic, top metal grill speakers and three sensors, at the bottom there is an oblong Home button (which I really miss in many other smartphones). The metal rim of the side edges has become corrugated. The smartphone seems large and weighty, but compared to the previous model it has decreased in width and thickness, and the weight has decreased by 12 grams.

With the back cover, the developers finally abandoned the “remember warm vodka in the entrance from a soap dish” style. Now there is not glossy plastic, but plastic that imitates artificial leather: there is even “stitching” along the edges. It looks much better than the old cover, the phone now feels clearly more comfortable in the hand, and the fact that it is plastic and not artificial leather, which some reviewers complained about, is not a problem at all for me, because it helps preserve artificial animals.

Bottom: The S-Pen socket is conveniently removable and can be inserted into the socket in two positions, rather than in one, as before. Next are the speaker grille, microphone and USB 3.0 slot.

Yes, yes, this is exactly USB 3.0, for which Samsung attaches a special cable, the head of which looks like this.

At first I cursed this cable for a long time - they say, it used to be so convenient, all smartphones are powered by microUSB and the same adapters, so everything was completely interchangeable, but here you are... However, it turned out that the smartphone remained fully compatible with USB 2.0 and microUSB cables. When you connect a new cable to a USB 3.0 port, the transfer speed increases by one and a half to two times compared to the old type of connection (according to purely practical tests that I conducted), but you can, as before, connect your smartphone to the USB 2.0 port with the most ordinary cable USB-microUSB, thank you very much for that! The right side is the power button in a traditionally convenient place.

Top edge: headset output and infrared sensor so that the smartphone can be used as a remote control for electronics.

The left side is a volume rocker.

Well, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 next to LG G2.

By the way, I like that Samsung does not change the traditional arrangement of control buttons from smartphone to smartphone. Their arrangement is carefully calibrated, the button travel is usually almost perfect, so it’s good that this continuity is constantly preserved. Display The display is here, as almost always in modern flagship smartphones Samsung, - Super AMOLED. These displays have always been distinguished by very bright and even “acid” colors, which, however, could be adjusted by changing the color profile, and in addition, one of the features of these displays was the fading of the screen in direct sunlight to the point of almost complete unreadability. Actually, largely because of this, I eventually gave up Samsung smartphones: I often have to be in the sun, so this feature very annoying. And only after testing the Galaxy Note 3, I can now say that the Super AMOLED display has finally gotten rid of its most annoying (for me personally) feature, because this display remained quite readable in direct sunlight. Yes, of course, it fades, but no more than regular IPS. At the same time, the Galaxy Note 3 excellent quality images, very saturated, but at the same time natural colors, excellent text quality, very good viewing angles (when deviating vertically or horizontally, the brightness decreases only slightly). Well, by the way, even automatic brightness adjustment here works more or less decently, which rarely happens on Android smartphones. (Although, I must say, in artificial light this auto-adjustment either darkens the screen too much or, on the contrary, makes it too bright, so I turn off the auto-adjustment anyway.) It should also be noted that there is a very high-quality oleophobic coating, which allows the display not to get dirty for quite a long time. process of use. The brightness margin is good. For sunny daylight I usually set it to somewhere around 50-60%. In general, I am very pleased with the display of this smartphone from all sides. This is besides the fact that using the Internet on such a display size and resolution is a pleasure. Device operation In my review of the Galaxy Note II, I wrote in some detail about the TouchWiz shell and system applications from Samsung. Therefore in this review We will try to focus on the new capabilities and features of this model. The main desktop with a proprietary weather and date-time widget.

A second desktop with a news widget and a walking trainer widget.

The fourth desktop with a notes widget.

The fifth desktop with the Samsung Hub widget.

Applications installed on the system.

Folder with Samsung applications.

Galaxy Plus apps.

Google apps folder.

Application area.

A set of quick settings buttons.

Moreover, the set of these buttons can be flexibly edited.

Lock screen. (I usually turn it off, it’s annoying.) Here you can add various widgets, information about missed calls and messages is displayed on the screen. Using the icon below, you can directly go to the camera application.

The smartphone has a lot of all sorts of clever features. For example, you can enable an option in which when you raise your hand to a switched off display, a screen with various information will appear on it for a few seconds - like this.

Context commands. One of the most interesting innovations is the so-called contextual commands that are associated with the S-Pen. Contextual commands appear when you pull out the pen, or you can call them by pressing a button on the pen. What is provided there?

The first is calling the active note. This thing is extremely interesting and functional. You can make a wide variety of handwritten notes and drawings, and you can associate any piece of text you select with: dialing a phone number, calling subscriber data, creating an SMS/MMS or letter, searching the Internet, searching on a map, or creating a task in S Planner.

The second point in contextual commands is to cut a fragment. You can trace any area of the screen with a pen - and it will be saved in a special application for storing fragments.

The third point is a screenshot. This duplicates the ability to take a screenshot, which in Samsung smartphones can be taken by swiping the edge of your palm across the display, which is very convenient. However, in this case, after taking a picture, the picture appears in a special editor, where this picture can be processed. (By the way, the screenshot editor after taking a picture with the edge of your palm can also be called up - this is in the settings.) The fourth item is S Finder, that is, searching for content on a smartphone or on the Internet using a text string. Well, the last point is to open it in a window. This is one of the options for implementing multitasking. You can draw an arbitrary area on the screen, and in this area you will be prompted to open a calculator, watch, phone, browser, messages, YouTube, gallery, and so on and so forth. Moreover, the window with this application will be saved on the desktop as an icon, and you can call it up in the future. Here, for example, are messages in the form of such a mini-area.

I must say that the work with the S-Pen has been noticeably improved here. If earlier there were some delays between the touch of the pen and the appearance of the image on the screen, now there are no delays: you get the full feeling that you are just writing with a pen or pencil. Multitasking mode also works as before: in the form of a sliding panel with applications that can only occupy part of the display. (This panel is enabled in Settings using the Multiple Windows option.)

Two applications on the screen - mail and browser.

A long press of the power button brings up this menu.

Now let's go over some applications. Keyboard The keyboard here is comfortable and has a top number row, which is appreciated. The only thing missing here is switching the language using a separate button (I, like many others, don’t like switching with a gesture on the spacebar), and I would also like to have a Swipe mode, when words are typed by sliding your finger in the direction of the corresponding letters.

Flipboard Aggregator of news from various media and social networks. Very inflexible and generally not clear to anyone.

Dropbox The Dropbox cloud service is included here. One of its main functions for a smartphone is automatic saving of photos and screenshots in the cloud, which is very, very convenient.

Telephone The phone application is traditionally convenient and functional for Samsung. It fully integrates the Contacts application (in standard Android done a little differently), in the “Contacts” tab there is a search bar at the top, there are various import-export functions, and you can also combine contacts from different accounts.

The phone application works perfectly: the sound is clear and without interference, the subscriber can be heard very well, all subscribers heard me without any problems. SMS/MMS Messaging app. You can attach any type of media data to MMS (there are eleven applications to choose from in which media data is created), it supports blocking of unnecessary messages and spam, and there is delayed sending of messages. But what’s missing is a secret, secure message folder (many people need this feature).

Messages menu.

Notes Text and handwritten notes/drawings to which you can attach various multimedia content.

A note can be made wallpaper for the desktop and lock screen, set as a contact picture, and so on.

Music Selection by songs, artists, albums, and in addition, what is important to many, by folders.

Song menu.

When listening through headphones, several types of sound adjustments are available. There’s even a “heat tube sound” effect, that’s what science and technology have come to!

The speaker of the smartphone sounds loud enough and does not wheeze. In good headphones, music is reproduced very well, especially if you adjust it, but the sound is still slightly flat - even with the warm tube sound turned on. That is, I would not call the sound of this smartphone outstanding, but it is still no lower than four. Video I played the video. Everything up to FullHD is reproduced without any problems.

Video player menu.

Samsung Hub Stores from Samsung: videos, books, games, educational literature.

File Manager Can separately display media data from all drives.

Gallery Selecting, viewing and editing images.

Fragments Another option for notes, where with a stroke of the pen you can enter not only all sorts of images and screenshots, but also pieces of video - just highlight them with a pen and command them to be transferred to fragments.

Settings The settings here are very flexible and noticeably different from regular Android ones, so let's see what's interesting there.

Screen Mirroring is a convenient thing, especially if you have a transmitter with which you can connect your smartphone to any modern TV.

Blocking mode is a useful thing: you can turn off incoming calls and notifications, for example at night.

The screen has all sorts of additional settings brightness optimization.

Special features.

One-handed control options.

S Pen options.

Gesture control.

A very useful mode is "Driving".

More gesture control settings.

Camera The camera interface is simple and convenient.

Automatic mode will automatically select settings depending on the environment.

Camera settings.

Now some sample pictures. (All are clickable, open with a size of 1920 in width.) A classic test for a smartphone - in this dark corridor, almost all smartphone cameras fail and produce a noticeable pink spot in the middle. Here it is filmed with high quality and almost no pinking.

Well, an example video. Well, the camera, in general, pleased me. The Galaxy Note and Galaxy S have always had very decent cameras, and this one doesn't disappoint. It shoots well, gives very natural, not flashy colors, the automatic white balance almost never misses, a very good dynamic range. One of the disadvantages is that the focus is often missed, but this is observed in almost all smartphones (except Nokia 1020, which is much better at this), so you just need to take two or three frames, just in case. Performance Purely practically, a smartphone is simply atomic: in the sense that it is very, very fast. And tests confirm this. According to Quadrant Standard - 18,078 parrots. The previous Note has 6583, the LG G2 has 19,981.

AnTuTu tests are at the very top of the table, 35,659. LG G2 has 26,716.

Battery life The first Note's battery was a sore point: the smartphone discharged very quickly. The second model was already noticeably better with this matter: at least she usually survived until the evening. In the third version, the battery capacity was increased by only 100 mAh, but here, apparently, they still worked on optimizing energy consumption, because according to tests, the smartphone showed very good battery life. Internet. Comfortable 60% brightness without auto-adjustment, all included wireless networks, the browser reloads the page every 30 seconds. Almost exactly 12 hours - very cool. The second version lived under the same conditions for about half an hour less. Video. The "Airplane" mode is turned on, the brightness is set to 60%, and the series is playing in a loop in MX Player with hardware acceleration. Almost the same as with the Internet - 12 hours. Game. Wireless networks are turned off, a 3D game (auto racing) is running on the display with 60% brightness. Four hours five minutes. In normal operating mode, the smartphone lived quietly until the evening, and if it was not used very actively, it could live for a couple of days on a single charge, especially if energy consumption was optimized. The adapter charges a completely discharged phone in a couple of hours. Observations during operation and conclusions During operation, no glitches were found. The smartphone works very stably, the back cover heats up quite a bit. There was one minor glitch with the registration of Navigon, but this is clearly a problem with the program itself, which also has other bugs. GPS satellites are determined quickly and coordinates are tracked stably. I didn’t seem to expect anything special from the third version of Note, but it turned out that the model was simply excellent, especially since it solved one of the main problems (for residents of sunny countries): the image disappears to zero in direct sunlight. Now the display in the sun looks no worse than smartphones with IPS matrices. Well, everything else here is just brilliant: hardware, software, battery. And the camera didn't disappoint. In general, I liked the smartphone so much that I couldn’t part with it: now I use it as my main one, and the LG G2 has moved to the background and is content with a Moscow SIM card. Samsung released a cool smartphone, simply cool. Now I'm really afraid to take it Samsung hands Galaxy S5...

Xiaomi Mi Note 3- This is a very strange device. This is exactly how the community perceived him. I thought so too, until the smartphone fell into my hands. And in this review I will prove that the device is worthy of taking a closer look at it.

Disclaimer

I want to warn you right away that I will be comparing our hero with and throughout the entire review. Smartphones are as similar to the first as two peas in a pod, while the second is related by its common name and origins.

I'm sure most will agree with me. For the rest, please don't worry.

Equipment

Either Xiaomi cannot decide on the style of its packaging, or the manufacturer had a desire to somehow distinguish Mi Note 3 from its other products.

In general, we find a box made of thick black cardboard. Inside, everything is exactly the same as in the packaging for Mi6 (well, it started).

The most interesting among the components is a power supply with fast charging (charges the device up to 60% in 40 minutes) and a case. The latter is ordinary, ten-cent silicone slag, which you buy 10 pieces at a time on Ali. On the other hand, this will do for the first time.

Without case

Design

“And now I have Xiaomi Mi6 in my hand again! I missed you." — these are exactly the thoughts that arose in my head when I unpacked the smartphone, tore off the films and began to twirl the device in my hands.

I will not describe in detail all the nuances of the case. Everything here is exactly the same as what we saw in the spring. Therefore, I refer you to his review.

The only thing I will focus on now is the ease of grip (our hero has grown up), the fragility of the case, and at the same time there is good news about the display.

And this is our Xiaomi Mi6

Both smartphones (Mi6 and MN3) fit perfectly in the hand. It’s just that the Mi-6 is compact, and a new product from the category of smartphones, when it’s already a shovel, but it’s still convenient to use. Obviously not, with whom “neither here nor here.”

Since we have glass on both sides, the smartphone feels more secure in the hands than any other smartphone. Still, glass, even with a high-quality oleophobic coating (Mi Note 3 has it on both sides), clings to your palms better than polished metal.

But MN3 glides perfectly on any surface, even under minimum angle at 1 degree. Here you have to be extremely careful - you left your smartphone on the sofa, and after 10 seconds it falls to the floor with a crash! I warned you.

Regarding the fragility of the case. Here you go true story my friend. He was holding his Mi6 in his hands and accidentally dropped it to the ground from a height of 50 cm, no more. The case was not damaged, so the smartphone was hidden in a backpack out of harm’s way. After some time, a friend took the device out of his bag and discovered that the rear glass was covered with a web of cracks. Even small pieces of glass began to fall out.

Can the same be achieved with MN3? I don't know, but again, I warned you.

The third point that I personally was very pleased with is the large, 5.5-inch display from edge to edge. The side frames are minimal - about 2 millimeters. And the smartphone looks really fiery! Even if not Mi MIX 2.

I forgot to say about the colors. There will be only two of them: completely black and the same, but blue. The last one looks great in the renderings! However, I would not recommend taking it, because there is a chance you will quickly get tired of such a flashy appearance. And these golden frames around the perimeter... all this is doubtful.

Display

There's not much to say about the screen. Here we have a completely ordinary, high-quality IPS matrix with support for the NTSC palette at 94.4%. This means that the colors are as natural as possible, moderately rich and contrasting. In general, IPS panels have long since reached their peak and are no longer evolving. But, apparently, they are cheap for manufacturers.

It’s good that they abandoned OLED screens, because the MN2 had a matrix of disgusting quality. These were the ones in Samsungs from the time of the Galaxy S4. In addition, there were a lot of defects - some specimens could “boast” yellow spots.

The contrast ratio is 1500:1, and the brightness at maximum is 550 nits. As with other new products, the backlight slider can be reduced to a minimum value of 1 nit. In fact, this is just a beautiful number, because even in complete darkness, the eyes bulge, desperately trying to see something on the display with such backlighting. At least for me, not for a vampire.

Traditional photography viewing angles. Ta-da!

Characteristics of Xiaomi Mi Note 3

This is where I get really confused. I wanted to make the characteristics of our device into one list. Then I thought that we should compare it with its predecessor (). And then I remembered that the new product is very similar to Mi6. What to do? OK! Let's compare three devices at once.

It's funny that some parameters in the new product have deteriorated compared to its predecessor, for example, the type of built-in memory and battery. The autofocus on the front camera also disappeared, although they weren’t pleased with the Mi-6 either. There is no need to talk about the 3.5 mm port that left us. R.I.P.

Otherwise, the MN3 is almost completely inferior to the Mi6 presented this spring. Except again front camera- after all, the resolution has increased, and the individual dots on the matrix have become larger - not a big deal.

Oh yes! Be careful because Chinese versions do not support 20th LTE band. At least that's what the official website claims.

Navigation

Unexpectedly (for Qualcomm) the navigation was disappointing. I don’t know if this is a chipset problem or if the Xiaomi programmers got smart in my build (MIUI 9.1.2.0, official, Chinese), but with geopositioning everything is complicated here. It’s the cold and hot starts that are lame—I was constantly being thrown somewhere into the Atlantic Ocean, just below Côte d’Ivoire.

And the only utility that worked normally was Google Maps.

Performance

Oh, the smartphone has no problems with this! Yes, it may seem that you bought some kind of incomprehensible G..., because inside is not a top-end “snap”, but only a 660th one. However, this is a deep misconception. Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 is a very powerful chipset, because it consists of 8 Kryo 260 cores (the 835 has 8 280 cores), and Adreno 512 acts as an addition. It would seem, again, nothing, because the numbers are much smaller (512 vs Adreno 530 or 540).

However, in practice it turned out that the smartphone runs “Tanks” without any problems at maximum graphics settings with 60 FPS.

Moreover! During the 20 minutes of play, the frame rate never dropped. Do you need any more evidence that the device has a great potential for the future?..

There are also no problems in terms of animation and menu navigation. The feeling that you are using a flagship is 146 percent.

Cameras

Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is an amazing smartphone. It seems that according to the “paper characteristics” everything is clear with him. However, if you gape, he may suddenly surprise you. This time it came from the front camera.

Front camera

She's gone a long way here. Okay, not very much, but she left. Forward.

Rear cameras

In short, the quality of pictures taken with the main camera (12 megapixel Sony IMX386 with f/1.8 aperture) is exactly the same as in (right).

And the “mi-sixth” lathers even better. Perhaps in Mi6 the programmers simply managed to perfect the background blur and other algorithms, but haven’t gotten around to Mi Note 3 yet.

And Mi6, in turn, cannot compete in photo quality with this year’s flagships (, and so on). However, this is not surprising for Xiaomi. Never before have their smartphones been famous for their top quality images.

Yes, the camera takes good and sometimes even excellent pictures, but I still wouldn’t call the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 a camera phone.

The second camera (12 MP, S5K3M3 sensor, f/2.6) is needed for optical zoom. First of all. But I wouldn't recommend using it. Still, the telephoto camera (52 mm) is significantly inferior in quality to the main sensor with a 26 mm lens. It’s better to approach the object with your feet and remove it as expected.

I noticed another strange thing - you take three pictures at a time (this has long become a habit for me) and one will turn out 100% blurry. This is what it looks like... one archive.

Video recording

IN once again I am convinced that recording a video is never strong point Xiaomi. Everything seems to be not bad, but until you have seen what your competitors are capable of.

Stabilization works, but like a ninja, it’s not easy to notice traces of its activity.

Sound

There is only one multimedia speaker here - on the bottom end, to the right of the USB C port. It is echoed by a conversational speaker, however, it is so quiet that it is only a stretch to call the whole thing a stereo effect.

The main speaker is loud - above average. But its quality is completely mediocre - there is absolutely no bass or a hint of it. Complex compositions merge into a noisy mess, but I still didn’t notice any extraneous wheezing. Already good.

The sound quality in the headphones is absolutely the same as in any other device from Xiaomi, that is, good.

Software

In my case, the smartphone ran on native Chinese firmware. In other words, the system only had Chinese and English languages, and Google’s software was completely cut out.

Fortunately, all GAPPS started up with just a click and in the most standard way.

Go to the standard application store App Store from Xiaomi, enter the word “google” in the search bar, go to the “paw” icon, and download the installer application. It will just bring up all the necessary services, and at the same time install the Play Store.

I didn’t try this trick on some of the latest devices from Xiaomi, but here everything went like clockwork. Even all my contacts have caught up. So the only stress is English language in the system and applications. Personally, it never bothers me, so I easily used the smartphone as my main one for a whole week. Even Android Pay started without problems

By the way, contactless payments won’t start with just a nickel. First of all, you need to go into the NFC settings and set “Use HCE Wallet”. Then everything will work as expected.

MN3 is one of the few smartphones from Xiaomi that had no problems with notifications. Well, there was practically none. The exception was Skype. On the other hand, this is already a terribly crooked utility that works disgustingly on other devices.

Autonomy

This smartphone can only be praised for this. In my case, the device lived quietly for a day and a half on one charge. At the same time, the screen was on (auto-brightness active) for 5.5-6 hours, two SIM cards were always installed, and I actively climbed websites and made my way through the navigator.

We thank the QS 660 processor and its 10-nanometer process technology for such autonomy.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 platform supports QC 4 fast charging, but Xiaomi is only announcing version 3. In any case, “fast charge” is available and the battery reaches 60 percent of its charge in 40 minutes.

Bottom line

Xiaomi Mi Note 3 They criticize it when comparing it with Mi6. Like, why buy it when there has been a similar device on the market for a long time, but with a top-end processor. But I don’t agree!

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, on which our hero works, is a very powerful and modern processor. And it is not a bit inferior even in the most difficult tasks to the top-end 835 “snap”. At least that's the case for now. We'll see what happens in the future.

In addition, the platform boasts all the modern features of the older chipset. Bluetooth 5.0, for example, is present in both platforms, but gigabit Internet, which only supports QS 835... Do you really not have enough speed on 4G+ networks? Well, seriously!

And in general! Why all this fuss when both smartphones cope with any task perfectly. With absolutely anyone! It’s just that Xiaomi Mi Note 3 has a larger display and it will be perfect for those who like the design of the “Mi-6”, but who were stopped by the small diagonal of 5.15 inches.

I also wanted to compare our hero with his predecessor (). I thought what was the point buy Xiaomi Mi Note 3, when for the same or even less money you can buy last year’s flagship with a curved screen. But as I remembered that poor OLED panel in Mi Note 2, the desire to recommend such a trick immediately disappeared.

Reviews of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 32Gb

Advantages

Flaws

  • 1) I really didn’t like Samsung’s TouchWiz shell - I changed it to Nova Launcher.
  • 2) The body materials are still slippery for me, just in case I bought a bumper for it, with which it is 2 times thicker and 1.5 times heavier. Despite this, it has become much more convenient to use - incl. and because of the greater weight (there was a feeling that it would not accidentally fly out of your hands). The first 2 weeks I couldn’t get used to the size. Devices with a diagonal larger than 5.7 would be inconvenient for me to use.
  • 3) From time to time a notification from KNOX comes out that it has again closed some (unknown to me) application for access where it should not.

Comment
I've been using it for more than 2 months. The device is always in energy saving mode, and there are no noticeable slowdowns or lags (I don’t play games). All unnecessary communications are disabled, GSM network mode is changed to LTE only for the duration of data transmission mobile network. With intensive use, it lasts for 2-3 days (HTC Sensation with new battery- 0.75 days), with light use (a couple of calls per day) - for 6 days (Sensation - 3 days).

I recently took the device to the winter mountains - I was very pleased with the autonomy! In offline mode, in the outer pocket of a membrane jacket (temperature -10C/-5C, high humidity due to heavy loads and because steam from the body passes through the membrane) for 4 hours of playing music through headphones, battery discharge is 3-4% ! I took it with me on all ascents, the temperature outside was -25C, the device froze up, but worked flawlessly all the time. On HTC Sensation, for example, the screen begins to glitch in high humidity conditions - random clicks are generated across the entire screen field. Nothing like this was noticed with Note 3. For 5 days at the top (mostly in offline mode), several hours of listening to music, an hour of Internet via 2G, several hours of reading - the device was discharged from 100% to 30%, and I also had a spare battery with me.

Advantages

  • Bright screen
  • Excellent battery life - about 36 hours (with active messengers VK, Skype, WhatsApp and bluetooth turned on).
  • Good appearance
  • Camera (quality and functionality)
  • The video is amazing (appreciate it when displayed on a large TV)
  • Productive
  • Bonuses from services (Samsung Hub certificate, Evernote premium for a year, additional space in DropBox"e)
  • Temperature and humidity sensors (left on the table for 10 minutes, S Health showed the temperature and humidity)
  • Very sensitive touch
  • S Voice (Google recognizes much better than Yandex)
  • Interaction with Samsung TV and tablet.

Flaws

  • The camera is great in good light.
  • The sides of the phone do not inspire confidence. Hid it under the bumper.
  • The transition from LTE to 3G sometimes takes 3-7 seconds
  • The camera protrudes, not good. Experienced Note 2.

Comment
My phone path lately has been Note 2 -> iPhone 5 -> Note 3.
The brakes were not noticed. But if iOS is made specifically for the iPhone, then they apparently achieved smoothness by providing huge resources.
Size. People know what they are buying.
LTE. I fiddled around, I admit, while activating 4G for Beeline.
I can’t classify the TouchWiz shell as either a plus or a minus. Individual question.
I really like S Voice. On the road, when the phone functions as a navigator, it’s easy to call an assistant (I call her Ksyushka) and make a call, dictate an SMS, and rearrange the route.
IR/IrDA. At first I thought it was a toy, but in my hands there was a remote control for TVs and air conditioners. At first, of course, I struggled with the settings.
Gestures and facial recognition are in some ways a toy, in others they are not reliable due to lighting.

Advantages

  • Compared to note1:
  • The screen has become brighter, the resolution is higher, it is very noticeable.
  • The gradients have disappeared, with this moment everything is as it should be.
  • Top-end hardware, nothing slows down, applications are not unloaded from memory if they are inactive. Any application loads instantly, there are no delays, as, for example, there was in note1 when making a call - the melody has already started, but the caller’s name is not yet shown. Now it's great.
  • The maximum number of all modern technical solutions - USB 3.0, NFC, all kinds of sensors and related capabilities. No one else has this.
  • Android 4.3 has learned a lot compared to previous versions, while maintaining the ability to change the system at your discretion.
  • The pen now works perfectly. Its functionality is organized at the highest possible level.
  • The thin body and leather-like back cover make it very comfortable to hold the device in your hand.
  • The battery holds a charge better than on the previous two notes.
  • It heats up less than note1 under load.
  • High-quality sound chip from Qualcomm, better than in the 9000 version, even better than in my Cowon player - cleaner, higher sound pressure, more bass.
  • The video quality in the dark was simply amazing - absolutely no noise, no worse than GoPro!

Flaws

  • The location for the speaker is not very well chosen - I constantly cover it with my finger, maybe I need to get used to it!
  • I expected more from the camera in terms of photography; in poor lighting, taking a sharp picture is problematic.
  • Auto-brightness works worse than on previous models - it makes the screen too dark in low light. The solution is simple - installing the Lux program from the market.
  • Some people complain about the Home button being loose - I didn’t have such a problem, it stays in place perfectly.

Comment
Previously, I used Note 1 for a year and a half.

I took a gray black Polish device in Moscow.

It was already unlocked, the LTE SIM card from the Beeline started up, but the Beeline itself does not allow using LTE with an existing number, only with a new one. So you'll have to wait until LTE can be tested.

I immediately flashed the custom firmware and kernel, everything flies, everything functions, there’s nothing to seriously complain about. Very pleased with the choice. At the moment, among the smartphones with this device, there are even some others and it’s somehow inconvenient to compare :)

Advantages

  • The screen is beyond praise, thin body, high quality body, fits comfortably in the hand, number of interesting features and gadgets, processor power, 3GB of RAM, 1080x1920 screen, fairly durable 3200mAh battery.
  • Improved headphones.
  • I was very pleased with the ability of the screen to respond to gloves, mittens and other clothing, just increase the sensitivity of the screen and use your phone in winter without problems - I give this innovation 5++++++++++! Well done Koreans.

Flaws

  • It happens very occasionally that it freezes, but this can happen with any device.

Comment
I bought the device 9.11.13 in one online store, which turned out to be an ordinary store on Gorbushka for 21,000 rubles, a Eurotest phone, it seems for England (judging by the connector on the charger). At first, its size upset me a little (it seemed a little big), it didn’t fit right into my hand, it tried to slip out, my fingers couldn’t reach the last key on the screen. But after just a few minutes of use, I realized that the size is, on the contrary, a plus of this device.
The screen is just something, super Amoled, and even in full HD quality!
The case, both at first glance and upon closer examination, is made to a solid 5! Once you get used to the size, you don’t want to let go of the phone, the back cover is made to look like leather and looks very original. It fits easily into your pocket and does not cause any discomfort when walking. Entering text on the keyboard with two hands is very convenient (in general, it is designed for two hands, but it is possible to adapt it to work with one hand, left or right, to suit your taste). The headphones that come with the set have gotten rid of one drawback: they no longer transmit sounds from wires dangling when walking. The sound is still good, but they are nevertheless inconvenient to use as a headset due to the fact that they are in-ear and completely block out extraneous sounds. You can very quickly and conveniently write notes, draw, and type text with a pen instead of using a keyboard.
It also implements other functions of working with the phone using gestures (scroll through photos, scroll text, etc.) and eye movements when working on the Internet (to be honest, the function is controversial because it’s easier for me to scroll with my finger).
In conclusion, I can say that I am as happy with the device as a whole and in general, but not long ago I used it for a long time and persistently and idolized the iPhone and reviled devices on Android, but now I understand that it is no better, that it is a cheap show-off that You won’t surprise anyone anymore, and maybe in some ways it even lags behind Samsung.
Shalin Anton, 2013-11-13 Grade 5

Advantages

  • Design, color (I have white and gold), size, amount of RAM, internal memory, battery, fast charging (in 2 hours)

Flaws

  • Size (if you use it mainly only as a dialer - although why do you need this tablet phone then), auto-brightness adjustment is buggy, unstable oleophobic coating, ergonomics, a second SIM card would not hurt.
