From the plate, using the decoupage technique, you can make very beautiful timepieces, which can become a gift for loved ones, especially those who are constantly late.

1. Find the unnecessary one vinyl record, remove the label. It is better to choose one so that the middle is white - it is almost impossible to paint red with white acrylic.

2. We purchase a clock mechanism or take it out of an unnecessary watch.

3. Prime the plate from a spray can. You can simply paint the surface with acrylic using a sponge, but further work will be more convenient if you prime it with an aerosol. Dry it.

4. Use a sponge to paint the background. We chose a slightly golden acrylic. Waiting for it to dry again.

  • coat the surface with glue;
  • wet the card;
  • apply the card to the adhesive surface;
  • Apply another layer of PVA on top;
  • we expel all air bubbles from under the card with our fingers or a brush;
  • dry with a hairdryer.

6. Glue rice paper on top. We work with it the same way as with a regular decoupage napkin.

7. Apply at least 3 layers of varnish.

8. We make marking drawings and paste numbers of the appropriate size.

9. We cut the hole that was sealed during the process again; After turning the scissors a couple of times, we enlarge the hole for the clock mechanism to the desired size.

10. Insert the mechanism and put on the hands.

11. If the mechanism does not come with a hinge, you can glue it with Moment glue.

12. Also, if necessary, the arrows can be painted in a contrasting color.

13. Insert the battery.

So we learned how to make a wall clock with our own hands, the master class also revealed to us the features of working using the decoupage technique.

Coffee clock

We continue to use decoupage to decorate the watch, but we can also use another decoration option. In this case, we will make our own watches from coffee beans, and the master class below is dedicated to this very topic.

Materials:

  • blank with a hole in the center;
  • clockwork;
  • a napkin with a beautiful coffee-themed design;
  • coffee beans
  • priming;
  • water-based decoupage varnish;
  • colored acrylic;
  • contour on glass - silver, gold, bronze;
  • stained glass paint;
  • sponge, brush, regular and rubber roller, paper file, toothpick;
  • PVA glue.

1. Prime the surface of the workpiece.

2. Paint one side with white paint, the other with brown.

3. Apply PVA glue diluted in a ratio of 1:2 onto a dry surface. We wet the napkin and glue it on top. Cover with glue again. We apply a wet stationery file and roll it on top with a roller, getting rid of air bubbles. Leave until completely dry. Then we coat it with varnish.

4. Using a contour, draw the boundaries of filling with coffee beans.

5. After 10-20 minutes we can start decorating with grains. For this small area cover with stained glass paint and carefully place coffee on it in random order, moving it towards each other with a toothpick.

6. After an hour, the paint will dry and everything will stick.

7. The dial can be made from improvised materials, the same coffee beans, you can draw numbers using an outline. Using the same outline, you can draw additional details: even butterflies, if you think they are appropriate.

8. All that remains is to insert the clock mechanism and the battery into it.

Such a clock can be hung in the kitchen: if you have not varnished the grains, they will give off an aroma for a long time.

Video selection

In this selection you will find other options for making your own watches.

Wrist:

And other decoration methods:

Beautiful wall clocks are always a source of information about time, but they also decorate the interior of an apartment and give it a special charm.

Moreover, if you think that it is very difficult to make a wall clock with your own hands, then you are deeply mistaken. This is a very real task that almost everyone can do. After all, for such a watch you do not need to assemble the mechanism itself.

Classmates

It is taken from old watches or taken out of cheap Chinese alarm clocks. And on this basis, you decorate them to your taste, taking into account the design of your apartment.

What are wall clocks made of?

If you decide to make wall hangings yourself or make grandfather clock with your own hands, you need to know that this can be done from almost any material. Of course, the most popular is wood. Due to its properties, wooden watches are made by ourselves. different shapes and last quite a long time.

Usually, not only wall clocks, but also grandfather clocks are made from this material. By the way, drawings for manufacturing wall clock usually not required, but they may sometimes be needed to floor structures, having a more complex assembly.

Record clock

Plastic and other materials

Plastic watches are also popular. They are even more durable, but their production is more complex. An original watch can be made from cardboard, and the simplicity with which this can be done is surprising. As a material for a wall clock, you can use paper or, for example, gramophone records.

Pay attention!

It’s quite possible to make a clock for the kitchen from a tin can.

The additional material used mainly for the manufacture of hands is also very diverse. These could be tree branches, buttons, pencils or wire.

Cardboard clock

As we have already said, making cardboard clocks is quite simple, so we will now tell you how to make a clock from cardboard yourself. In order to implement this idea we will need following materials and tools:

  1. Clockwork. It can be pulled out of an old unnecessary watch.
  2. A piece of corrugated cardboard. Its dimensions depend on the dimensions of your future product.
  3. Wooden disk.
  4. , PVA glue, kraft paper (special high-strength wrapping paper).
  5. (fine-grained and possibly coarse-grained), hook, decorative elements.

Paper clock

Main stages of execution

First you need to take a disk made of wood (the same goes for wooden clock), and use a hammer drill to make a hole for the clock mechanism. After this, we cut out two circles from cardboard and glue them on both sides and in one of them we also make a hole for the clock mechanism.

Having made the base for the clock, you need to cover the ends of the disk with cardboard, cutting out a piece with a width equal to the thickness of the disk and a length equal to its circumference. We fix it with PVA glue. Then you need to cover the clock with kraft paper and, on the reverse side, fix the hook with which we will hang our product on a nail. By the way, a master class on watch making can be viewed below.

Final work

Now we need to paint our disk black. It will be enough to do this from the front side. After the surface has dried, we make a hole for the arrows using an awl. Now we need silver paint, which contrasts as best as possible with the black color of the disk, and use it to apply the divisions and numbers on the dial. We paint the arrows with the same color. We finish our work by installing the clock mechanism and decorative decoration ends and edges of the disk.

Pay attention!

This can be done, for example, using rhinestones.

As you can see from the instructions presented, almost anyone can make a watch from cardboard.

Wood clock

Let's look at how quickly you can make a wooden clock. To make them you will need the following materials and tools:

  1. Wooden disk with a diameter of 330 mm.
  2. Wooden sticks and balls small diameter in the amount of 12 pieces.
  3. Clockwork.
  4. Sandpaper, glue, .
  5. Wire cutters and hammer drill.
  6. Black cardboard and paint in two colors.
  7. Pencil, scissors, ruler.

Step by step instructions

  1. Sand the disc and balls until they have a smooth surface and wipe them free of dust.
  2. We cut the wooden sticks to the same length. We choose the length ourselves.
  3. Using a punch, we will make a hole in the center of the disk intended for the arrows.
  4. Drill 12 holes at the end of the wooden disk. They will serve as grooves for sticks with balls. The distance between the disks must be the same. To do this, you need to use a protractor and make marks every thirty degrees.
  5. Pour glue into the holes and fix them in place wooden sticks.
  6. At this stage of making a wooden watch, you need to treat the surface with a primer and, after drying, apply several layers of paint. The paint color, in our case, should be white.
  7. Now we need to paint the balls red (it is most suitable for a white disk). To make this convenient, we will need a piece of foam plastic and the remains of our wooden sticks. We string balls onto them and paint them, after which we insert them into a piece of foam plastic and wait for them to dry. For painting we use a spray, since it is unlikely that it will be possible to paint evenly with a brush.
  8. After drying, insert the balls into the sticks and “sit” them on the glue.
  1. The final step will be to install the clock mechanism on the back of the disc and fix the hands to it. We will make the arrows from thick cardboard, painted black.

  5. Small paper plate.
  6. Ruler, scissors, pencil, pen.
  7. Brush and foam brush.

Plastic watch

Manufacturing stages

Let's look at how to make a watch with your own hands step by step.

  1. First, we cut the paper (choose the color that suits you), in the shape of an elongated trapezoid, along the length of the dial. In this case, all pieces must be the same in size and shape. Total area The paper should be larger than the dial so that you can bend the ends later. Then we fix the paper to the dial with decoupage glue and wait for it to dry. After this, we bend and glue the hanging ends to the back of the dial.
  2. Apply decoupage glue to the surface of the dial in several layers. Each subsequent layer is applied to the previous one, but after complete drying. At correct application, the surface of the dial will become glossy.
  3. We mark the dial. This can be conveniently done using paper plate. That is, first we mark all the dots on the plate, then we apply it to the dial and put the dots on it. After that, in place of the numbers, we glue, for example, buttons or something else that your imagination is designed for.

How to make a wall clock with your own hands

Taking the most ordinary embroidery hoop, you can get quite interesting wall clocks. You will also need decorative buttons for this. The base can be chosen from a fabric that goes well with the texture and color design Your interior.

You can also use any buttons (preferably a collection) that are completely idle. They can be of different shapes, colors, sizes.

For a new watch you need to prepare: an old watch or find hands with a mechanism, a hoop, fabric with buttons, braid/ribbon, and if you wish, a thin board/cardboard.

It shouldn’t be a pain to disassemble a clock mechanism/old clock in order to remake it for a new decor. The arrows should be removed along with the nuts that hold them together. It is important to know in this case in what sequence they are connected. The fabric is attached between the hoops, cut off the unnecessary edges, then sew on the buttons. Place the latter in accordance with the numbers on the dial.

Next, the watch mechanism itself is attached. You need to make a small hole right in the center of the dial, and on the other side you need to attach a mechanism so that the mount for the hands is right in the center of the dial of your watch. To secure the mechanism, cut a circle from a cardboard sheet or wood. Its diameter should be the same as the hoop. The mechanism is glued to it. You can also simply hang it on a ribbon that is attached to the hoop. We recommend making a loop so that you can hang the accessory on the wall. All that remains is to screw the arrows and voila! Option No. 2

A clock can also be made from old unwanted magazines/newspapers.

To do this you need to prepare: 24 pages of equal size; pencil, scissors, transparent adhesive tape, long needle, silk thread intended for embroidery/floss, transparent plastic disks (2 pcs.), a cardboard circle with a hole right in the center, a clock mechanism with arrows.

So, first you need to take a pencil that is wrapped in newspaper. The tubes need to be made accordingly, 24 pieces. Their ends should be secured with adhesive tape, then they naturally will not unwind. Approximately the third part needs to be moved back from the end of the tube, then bent in half here.

You need to insert a silk/floss thread into the needle, then thread it through the same bent tip paper straw. Pull the needle through and tie a knot at the end of the thread. Other tubes are sewn in the same way. They should be placed around your watch.

Place a prepared transparent disk on top of the tubes. This must be done so that the hole remains in the center of the circle, which was created thanks to the tubes. Then the mechanism is applied, taking into account that the place where your hands are fastened coincides with the hole in the disk. Then you need to turn the clock over and put in a second disk of the same type. Cardboard is placed on top of it, and the clock mechanism is attached using a nut. At the end, all you have to do is screw on the hour hands and voila!
