We decorate the old refrigerators with our own hands. Refrigerator decoration with film

The old refrigerator is still in good condition, but is very dilapidated and covered with rust in places?

Or maybe it seems to you that this large metal “box” does not fit into the interior in any way? Or do you just want to spruce up your kitchen a little?

In this article, we will talk about 8 ways to decorate a refrigerator, from DIY painting to decoupage, and also present 80 photo ideas of original alterations.

Method 1. Painting with slate paint and painting with crayons (+ master class)

The slate-coated refrigerator door is the perfect place to keep notes: shopping and to-do lists, recipes and family reminders, and sweet notes. And, of course, it is very convenient for children to draw on such a “board” while mom is cooking. To turn refrigerator doors into writing boards, you can choose one of the following four methods:

Method 1. Painting with slate paint. This method is somewhat more complicated than the others, and besides, it excludes the possibility of returning the surface to its original form. But you can paint with slate paint not only the doors, but the entire body of the equipment, and the coating itself will turn out to be more durable.

Method 2. Finishing with chalk wallpaper. Chalk wallpapers are easier to work with, and most importantly, they can be peeled off without leaving marks on the surface of the equipment. However, the coating is not very durable and needs to be changed periodically. In addition, chalk wallpaper is more difficult to decorate rounded doors, corners, bypass handles, displays and protruding parts when gluing. If you want to glue the entire body, the coating will have visible seams. For this reason, it is best to decorate only the door or part of the door with chalk wallpaper.

Method 3. Mounting a magnetic slate board. Such a board is mounted and dismantled as easily as one large magnet, and you can not only draw on it, but also attach small magnets. Most often, ready-made magnetic boards are not too large, and a large panel can only be purchased on order.

Method 4. Mounting the slate on neodymium magnets. This method is good because it allows you not to paint the refrigerator and, if desired, it is easy to remove the chalk board.

How does such a large chalk board hang on the refrigerator? The secret is simple - several neodymium magnets are glued to its back

Please note that the refrigerator does not have its own handles, its doors open by handles screwed to the chalkboard

What you will need:

Thin sheet of plywood (3-6 mm); Slate paint, primer (preferably), paint brush / roller, cuvette; Moldings for framing the board; Jigsaw or hand saw; Neodymium magnets with holes for screws (the price of one magnet is about 80 rubles, their number and adhesion strength depend on the weight of the board).

Such a super-magnet the size of a ruble coin can easily hold 3 kg of weight.

Shurpas (by the number of magnets), a screwdriver; Stickers on furniture legs (they are needed to avoid scratches on the surface of the doors, as well as chips on the magnets themselves. Such pads are sold in Ikea and hardware stores. If desired, pieces of thin rubber or fleece-type fabric can be glued to the magnets); Furniture handle for each board/door and screws for fastening.

Instruction:

Step 1. We measure the parameters of one or two refrigerator doors.

Step 2. We cut out boards from a sheet of fiberboard exactly according to the size of the doors.

Step 3. Paint the board with a primer, wait for it to dry. Next, apply the first layer of slate paint, let it dry, apply the next layer and leave again for the time recommended by the manufacturer. Finally, apply the third coat of paint (preferably).

Step 4. While the paint dries, unscrew the native handles of your refrigerator.

Step 5. We cut and mount the moldings on the board (you can use wood glue). If desired, moldings can be painted.

Step 6. Now we glue a protective pad on each magnet, then we fasten all the magnets to the back of the board. Be careful and strictly (!) Follow the rules for working with neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets are small magnets, but very powerful. They are sold in special online stores in a variety of shapes, sizes and capacities (adhesion strength is indicated on the package). For our project, flat magnets are suitable so that the gap between the board and the door is not too large. The main thing is that the total adhesion force of the magnets exceeds the weight of your board twice (!), otherwise it will slide down.

Step 7. Hooray! The board is ready. Now we attach furniture handles to it.

Step 8 Now it's time to install the board(s). Try opening each door by pulling on the handle, if the board is still and the door opens easily, then your project is complete. If you feel that the board is not attached to the door tightly enough, add a few more magnets.

Method 2. Vinyl stickers

Vinyl stickers are easy to stick and peel off without a trace, they are inexpensive and are sold in a wide variety of designs, and therefore they can be changed frequently to suit your mood. For example, geometric shapes, images of animals, plant and flower motifs, words and phrases can decorate a refrigerator.

Vinyl stickers can be bought at hardware stores, craft stores, various online stores (for example, on Aliexpress), and also ordered from a printing house. Simple stickers for the refrigerator can be cut by hand from self-adhesive paper.

Method 3. Film or magnetic panels with photo printing

Want to turn your fridge into a realistic phone booth, a retro soda machine or a bottle of your favorite drink? Or maybe you just want to transfer a beautiful photo of your authorship to the door? Then your choice is vinyl film or magnetic vinyl (magnetic panel) with photo printing. Both coating options can not only decorate the refrigerator, but also protect its facades from scratches and dirt.

A film with photo printing is different in that it is glued by smoothing it manually or under the influence of warm air (at home, this is done with a hairdryer). The latter easily fits even on the rounded doors and corners of the refrigerator. Both types of film are suitable for decorating the entire body of equipment.

How to stick a sticker with photo printing on the refrigerator with your own hands? The first step is to degrease the surface with any degreaser or alcohol solution. The handles on the door must first be removed, it is advisable to remove other protruding parts as well. Then the film is carefully applied and simultaneously smoothed with some flat object (for example, a bank card), bubbles and wrinkles are smoothed out. Further, the film is folded along the edges, also smoothed, and the excess is cut off with a clerical knife. And finally, the handles are screwed into place.

Magnetic panels are flexible sheets of 0.5 mm thick vinyl with a magnetic back and photo printing on the front. In fact, these are just large magnets that are made exactly to the dimensions of the doors (but not more than 60 cm wide). Most often, magnetic panels decorate the doors, but they can also decorate the sides of the refrigerator. Magnetic vinyl can be easily assembled and dismantled without leaving any marks.

Method 4. Painting in a bright color, to match the headset or wall (+ master class)

You can update an old refrigerator or fit appliances into the interior simply by painting it with metal paint. The main thing here is to choose the right color.

If you paint the refrigerator to match the wall or headset, it will seem less bulky. This technique is especially good for small kitchens.

If the interior of your kitchen seems too boring for you, then the refrigerator can be painted in a very bright color.

In the interior of the kitchen in the style of retro, country or Provence, a refrigerator in red or pastel color - puddle pink or pale blue will look great.

It is best and easiest to paint a refrigerator with your own hands with spray paint. Ideally, this should be a particularly resistant alkyd enamel or acrylic paint for metal. Canned paint will also work, but it's important to use a quality paint brush to achieve a perfectly even finish.

Instruction:

Step 1. Lightly sand the surface to remove the gloss. If there is rust or chips somewhere, then we also remove them and level them with sandpaper.

Step 2. Clean and degrease the surface with an alcohol solution.

Step 3. With masking tape we cover everything that we want to protect from painting, we close the refrigerator chamber with a film. Don't forget to put film or newspapers on the floor and open the window.

Step 4. Shake the can well and start spraying the paint with a uniform thin layer and let it dry, then apply the second and third layers (if necessary). Remember that instead of one thick layer of paint, it is better to apply two thin ones.

To increase the durability of the paint and facilitate its application, it is advisable to first coat the surface with a primer.

Step 5. We cover the surface with a matte or glossy varnish, which will make the new coating more durable and moisture resistant.

Method 5. Hand-painted

Hand painting can turn a refrigerator into a unique art object or simply into a very nice and “animate” piece of furniture. You can paint the technique with paints and brushes, special acrylic markers or airbrushes.

It is better to trust complex compositions to professionals, but with your own hands you can draw a simple drawing, use a stencil or masking tape (to create stripes). Here is a large selection of photos of simple refrigerator painting ideas that even a beginner can implement.

From this video tutorial you will learn how to decorate an old refrigerator with your own hands using a stencil in the form of a lace tablecloth.

Method 6. Decoupage (+ master class)

Decoupage is an easy and great way to update an old fridge, adapt it to a rustic or traditional style kitchen, or complete it with hand-painted or moldings.

Decoupage refrigerator type Side by side

To decoupage the refrigerator you will need:

Multi-layer napkins with the desired print, or better, special cards for decoupage (they can be large in size, and the drawings themselves are already composed in the composition); Scissors; PVA glue; Brushes: flat squirrel (for decoupage and applying varnish) and thin synthetic (for drawing details); Pencil (for marking and sketching); Acrylic paints; Acrylic varnish (matte, glossy or with craquelure effect).

Instruction:

Step 1. Prepare the surface: degrease with an alcohol solution if you plan to glue the pattern on the factory finish, or paint the refrigerator in the desired color and wait until the paint dries.

Step 2. Separate the layer with the pattern from the napkin and cut out the desired element along the contour with scissors. Cut as many blanks as needed.

Step 3. Start gluing the first drawing: glue it on the wrong side, apply it to the desired place, then carefully smooth out the bubbles and folds with a brush, remove excess glue with a damp cloth with tamping movements. Next, glue all the other blanks, moving from the center to the edges, starting with large and ending with small elements.

Before sticking napkins, it is advisable to apply markings to the surface of the door.

Step 4. When the whole composition is formed, draw small details and contours.

Step 5. Apply two or more coats of matt or glossy varnish to the drawing to give it greater strength and moisture resistance.

Method 7. Decoration with moldings and "carved" details (+ master class)

If your kitchen is decorated in a classic style, then a grandiose project of converting a refrigerator into ... an old sideboard will help you fit a free-standing refrigerator into its interior.

View of the old refrigerator before and after remodeling

What you need for decoration:

Moldings made of wood or PVC; Carved furniture decoration in wood/PVC or gypsum/polyurethane moldings in the form of a crown, as well as patterned corners (if possible); Saw for trimming moldings; Glue for metal.

What you need for painting:

adhesive primer; White chalk paint (you can do it yourself according to recipes from the Internet or buy, say, from designer Daria Geller); Chalk paint of the main color; Brush for painting, 1 round brush with a diameter of 8-7 cm (useful for both painting and waxing), medium flat brush (for wax); Dark wax (can be replaced with a mixture of colorless wax with dark brown paint); The wax is colorless; Painting accessories: film, masking tape, etc.

The refrigerator is one of the household appliances that must be present in any kitchen without fail. But those times when the hostesses were quite satisfied with the presence of a “boring white box” have passed. Now most of them are trying to somehow decorate it. Today, almost all major manufacturers have a line of "color" models in their assortment, but, unfortunately, their choice is not so great, and they are more expensive. Therefore, often you have to decorate the refrigerator yourself. This can be done with the help of both "magnets" and elite author's airbrushing. We offer you to glue the refrigerator with self-adhesive film. This method allows you to apply almost any image without feeling a strong blow to the family budget.

Which self-adhesive film to choose

Films can be both white and color

Since the refrigerator is usually located in the kitchen, that is, in a room with a high level of humidity, then, of course, the decoration film should have water-repellent properties.

The most popular self-adhesive film, suitable also for decorating a refrigerator, is ORACAL film. It perfectly tolerates adverse weather conditions, such as rain and snow, so that high humidity in the room will not be a problem for it.

You can also use Dutch film AVERYDennison, German Orafol or Italian Ritrama. In addition, an inexpensive product from the Chinese company PromoFilm has recently appeared on the market. True, unlike analogues, it is available only in white. It is designed for subsequent printing.

In addition to the film for decorating the refrigerator, you can use rolled self-adhesive paper. But given that the latter requires mandatory lamination after printing on it, this option will be more expensive.

Pattern selection

Thanks to the film, you can turn your 'boring' refrigerator into a real 'art object'

One of the main advantages of decorating a refrigerator with a film is that you are free to use almost any image as a picture. However, when choosing a pattern, you need to make sure that it meets a number of requirements.

Image size

In order for the image not to lose its quality when printed, it should be approximately the same size as the area you are going to decorate. Please note that the size of the picture on the Internet in most cases is indicated in pixels. They will have to be converted to your usual units of measurement. One centimeter equals about 38 pixels, so if your refrigerator is, say, 180 centimeters high and 55 centimeters wide, then the minimum image size should be 6800 by 2090 pixels.

Finding large images on the Internet for free can be problematic. Therefore, it is more logical to choose a suitable picture in the company in which you will order printing on film. Often the layout for printing is done for free.

Aspect Ratio

Since the height of the refrigerator is greater than its width, the image must also have the appropriate proportions. To make it easier for yourself to find a suitable picture, in the search options, you must select the vertical or portrait orientation of the picture.

Abstract backgrounds are perfect for refrigerators of any size

Panoramic images are perfect for decorating a refrigerator, for example, with views of nature or a night city, abstract patterns, full-length photos of people, and, of course, collages designed by designers specifically for this purpose.

Method and quality of printing

Today, a large number of printing companies and advertising agencies offer large format printing services.

The print quality on film is no different from the quality of photos in glossy magazines

To decorate the refrigerator with your own hands, it is recommended to use the so-called interior printing. It is distinguished by a large number of dots per unit area, which makes the image almost indistinguishable from a professional photograph in a glossy magazine. Of course, this printing method is not cheap, but given that the image printed on the refrigerator will be viewed from a fairly close distance, it is not worth saving on this. Otherwise, every time you approach the refrigerator, you will see not the picture you have chosen, but a set of dots of different colors.

Refrigerator preparation

When the image you have chosen is transferred to the film, you need to prepare the refrigerator for pasting.

Dismantling of fittings

Before gluing the film on the surface of the refrigerator, it is necessary to dismantle all the fittings. The process can be radically different depending on its model, so it is recommended that you carefully study the instructions that came with the refrigerator before starting work.

If you have experience in gluing the film, then the refrigerator doors can not be removed. If not, then we recommend doing this, since it is easier to work with a horizontal surface. And given the fact that the film with the image applied to it is not cheap, it is better to spend a little time than to spoil the image.

Surface washing

The surface on which the film will be glued must be thoroughly washed and degreased (for this you can use a regular dish detergent). After that, it should be dried. Make sure there are no small specks stuck to it.

Any speck or defect in the paint will become very noticeable after the film is applied.

How to glue film

There are two ways to stick a self-adhesive film: dry and wet. If you have experience with gluing, then you can use the dry method. If not, then you should not even try, especially since we are talking about a film with an image, the cost of which is quite high. Therefore, we will immediately move on to the wet method.

In addition to the film itself, for work you will need:

  • scissors;
  • a water sprinkler (the one with which the linen is moistened when ironing is perfect);
  • squeegee - a special spatula made of plastic or hard rubber.

If there is no special squeegee, you can use a plastic or rubber spatula.

If there is no special squeegee, you can use a plastic or rubber spatula

  1. The first step is to prepare a mild soapy solution. To do this, add a little dish detergent to plain water. After mixing, the solution is poured into a spray bottle. It is from it that we will wet the surface of the refrigerator.
  2. Now we lay the film with the image on a flat surface (in the absence of a table of the right size, you can use the floor, after spreading a piece of clean cloth or polyethylene on it) with the image down.
  3. From the upper edge we separate a small (2-3 cm) strip of the base. Holding the edge, cut it along the entire length with scissors.
  4. Carefully turn the film over and apply the part with the adhesive base to the upper edge of the door (or wall) of the refrigerator. We do not wet the surface yet! With a clean, dry cloth, smooth the edge of the film, achieving its adhesion over the entire area.
  5. If air bubbles form on the glued strip, you can try to “drive them out” with a squeegee. If this was not possible, then you can simply pierce the bubble with an ordinary pin or needle, and then smooth it with the same squeegee or dry rag. Even if a small mark remains, it will be hidden by the fittings after its installation.
  6. We roll the film into a roll with the image inside.
  7. Wet the surface of the door from the spray gun from the place where the glued part of the film ends.
  8. Gradually tearing off the base, smooth the film to the surface, carefully leveling with a squeegee.
  9. When the entire film is pasted, we once again check the surface for the absence of bubbles, if they are found, we "drive" them towards the nearest edge.
  10. Let the film dry, and then install the fittings. The sticker is finished.

If small bubbles remain, do not worry - thanks to the soapy solution, the film does not stick much and such “blemishes” will be removed without problems. Although, of course, it is better to try to paste over so that bubbles do not form.

You can also decorate the refrigerator with a carbon film. The technology of its application is identical to that discussed above.

Pattern sticking

With the help of a film, you can put on the refrigerator not only a solid image, but also an application

Modern technologies allow not only to print an image on a self-adhesive film, but also to cut out almost any pattern from it. Updating the refrigerator this way is easier and cheaper, since you don’t have to dismantle the doors and fittings, and even the most intricate film pattern is cheaper.

In addition to the film cut on the plotter (this is the name of the device with which the film is cut), you will need an additional editing board. It is glued over the front side of the pattern. The rest of the gluing process does not differ from that described above.

The image is transferred to the surface using a ‘montage’ film

'Wooden' refrigerator with a country-style image

To decorate the refrigerator yourself, there are many ways, such as decoupage, vinyl stickers, using magnets, painting.

Interior decor is the creation of an individual and harmonious appearance of the room. You can decorate not only walls, floors or ceilings, but also the surface of furniture and even household appliances. One of the popular items that people like to decorate is the refrigerator. Its body is large enough, which makes it possible to choose any design and technique you like. The plain surface of the refrigerator can be decorated with your own hands using decoupage, painting, stickers or in other ways.

Refrigerator decoration is a simple and at the same time very effective way to make a bright accent and give the interior a mood.

But, starting the creative process, one should not forget the main rule - the decor must match the style of the room, otherwise you can get the opposite effect in the form of a ridiculous appearance of the kitchen.

Variety of decor ideas

Modern technologies for the production of household appliances make it possible to produce items, in particular refrigerators, not only with a white, black or metal surface, but also in various other shades. There are also designer models that are real works of art. But such options cost a lot of money and not everyone will be able to afford it.

What to do when there is no opportunity to buy a stylish refrigerator, but you still want an unusual and original detail? The solution may be to decorate the surface of the equipment with your own hands.

There are many formatting methods. Here, everyone can choose exactly the variant of decor that will be most appropriate both for the realization of their creative fantasies and for decorating a particular interior. Among the popular options for decorating a refrigerator are the following:

  • magnets and magnetic boards;
  • decorative stickers;
  • painting;
  • decoupage.

Decoration with magnets and magnetic boards

The easiest and cheapest way to decorate your refrigerator is to use different magnets. These can be souvenirs brought with you from travels or donated by friends, as well as products purchased specifically as a decor for the surface of the refrigerator. For lovers of creative experiments, you can try to make magnets with your own hands.

For self-production, you will need salt dough, paints, an oven and a little imagination. Figures in the form of fruits, vegetables, various confectionery, flowers, etc. will look original. Blind by hand, the dough should be dried in the oven, and then painted. Attach magnets to the finished parts with glue and decorate the surface of the refrigerator.

The second way is to use a magnetic board. This item is able to perform not only a decorative role, but also a functional one. The surface of the board allows you to write or draw on it with chalk, special felt-tip pens or markers. So, you can easily write down your favorite recipes, menu for the day or week, shopping list, leave all kinds of messages and correspond with family members. A magnetic board is a fairly inexpensive and positive way to decorate not only the refrigerator, but also the interior of the kitchen as a whole.

Decoration with decorative stickers

One of the most popular and relatively inexpensive ways to decorate your fridge is to use vinyl decals. A wide selection of images will allow you to choose a good option that fits the interior in almost any style. If the store did not find what you need, you can always print the desired image on film and stick it on the surface of the refrigerator.

Popular stories include:

  • birds and animals;
  • flowers and plants;
  • landscapes;
  • various ornaments and prints, including animal skins;
  • butterflies;
  • textures of materials: wood, stone, brickwork, etc.

For a vinyl sticker, a refrigerator with a flat, flat surface is more suitable, since on old Soviet models with puffy and convex doors, the film may lie unevenly, with bubbles and other defects.

Decoration with painting

If you have a drawing skill, you can decorate the facades of the refrigerator with paintings. To work, you will need to have acrylic paints and a brush or stencil and a spray bottle on hand.

First of all, it is necessary to prepare the surface by degreasing it with technical alcohol. Then, you should apply a contour drawing with a simple pencil. Next, you can start painting the image using the selected paints and brushes of different sizes. The finished drawing should be thoroughly dried and covered with a layer of varnish on top, which will protect it from damage.

The image can be applied to the surface of the refrigerator and using a stencil. To do this, a sheet of paper with a cut out pattern must be fixed on the body of the equipment, and using a spray can, spray paint of the desired color on top. The finished drawing should also be dried and varnished.

Decoration with decoupage

Like do-it-yourself painting, decoupage requires creativity and skill. To make the kitchen look harmonious, you should select a pattern that matches the interior style. Decoupage involves decorating the surface with images cut out of paper.

A suitable picture can be purchased at a specialized needlework store, or you can choose any pattern you like in a magazine or print it on a printer. The top layer should be separated from the patterned napkin and glued to the refrigerator using PVA glue. After the image dries, apply varnish in several layers.

If ordinary printed paper is chosen as the basis, then, first of all, it is necessary to varnish it several times. Then, after drying, you need to place the picture in a bowl of water, put it on a spread towel with the image down and carefully peel off the paper base layer. As a result, a thin acrylic film should remain, which will subsequently be glued to the refrigerator.

What can be done with a refrigerator that no longer looks like it fits into the kitchen interior, but still works properly? The slightest change in the familiar environment will bring positive emotions and a great mood. How to update the refrigerator with your own hands without spending a lot of money? There are several ways.

To quickly and originally change the appearance of the refrigerator, you can use stickers. Stickers are offered in a wide range: from cartoon characters to strict plain self-adhesive films.

Restoration begins with the fact that the magnets are removed and the handles are unscrewed. If there are scratches, chips - you need to carefully putty them. Then you need to wash the surface of the refrigerator and wipe dry.

If a picture-film is chosen as a design, then you can mark the borders with a simple pencil on the wall of the refrigerator and carefully glue the application, starting from the top. Glue should be slowly, carefully leveling the film so that bubbles and wrinkles do not remain.

If the entire surface of the kitchen unit is pasted over with a film, then you need to take measurements and transfer them to the film, cut them out. Stick gradually, firmly pressing the film to the surface.

To properly paste over the end of the door, it is necessary to make an incision on the curved sections of the refrigerator. Then gently fold and flatten. A refrigerator decorated with a film looks very harmonious if the color is matched to the kitchen.

Painting an old refrigerator

How to change the color of the refrigerator if it is an old model with rounded sides? Decorating with a film will be difficult and inconvenient. In this case, the best option for decoration would be paint.

Before painting the old refrigerator, you need to wash it, disconnect the handles. If it doesn’t work, then glue the handles with tape so that the paint does not get. Lightly sand the entire surface. It is convenient to apply the paint to the surface with a roller, but it can also be sprayed.

The refrigerator should be covered with a very thin and even layer of paint, only with this technique can the desired result be achieved.

After the first layer, the look will be unpresentable, but after several (usually 4-5 are required), the desired effect will be achieved. Before each stage of staining, the previous layer must have time to dry, so you need to understand that the whole procedure will take at least 10 hours.

Decor with colored tape

How to paste over the refrigerator if there is not much time or money? There is an easy way to update - using colored tape. You can take not a bright color, but white or metallic.

You can draw a picture in the form of geometric shapes, or depict ethnic motifs, a pattern in the Aztec style. Or use pieces of adhesive tape to depict a whole landscape, make funny inscriptions, or simply cover the entire surface with one color.

If the decorated refrigerator with adhesive tape is bored and boring, then you can easily change the decor. The adhesive tape is removed with a soft cloth dipped in soapy water.

Imitation under a tree

You can update an old refrigerator so that it harmonizes with the rest of the interior in the kitchen. If the cabinets in the kitchen are made of wood, then the white refrigerator will stand out from the general background, and not everyone can afford the built-in one.

In this case, you will need:

  1. Wallpaper that imitates a wooden surface.
  2. Plywood.
  3. Paint to match cabinets.
  4. Metal color paint.

To begin with, the refrigerator must be washed and wiped thoroughly. Then paste over it with textured wallpaper (they can be replaced with self-adhesive film). Decorate the door of the unit along the upper edge with plywood overlays. Paint them the same color as the kitchen furniture, and paint the handles with metallic paint.

You can choose any color scheme of wallpaper (film) and paint, it all depends on the imagination and the general style of the kitchen room. The refrigerator does not have to match the color of the rest of the furniture, it can be combined with it in a different shade, become an interesting accent.

Decoupage

How to update an old refrigerator in the kitchen with your own hands using fashionable decoupage technique? This will require a little patience and imagination, but no one will definitely have this.

The first thing to start with is to decide on the idea of how to decorate the refrigerator. A kitchen unit simply pasted over with flowers will resemble an old Soviet refrigerator with decals. The composition should be carefully considered so that it is combined with other furniture and interior items.

When it is decided in what style you need to restore the refrigerator, you need to prepare the following things:

  • four-layer napkins (for decoupage);
  • PVA glue;
  • acrylic varnish and paints;
  • brushes for glue and paint;
  • scissors, sandpaper with fine abrasive;
  • paint for gilding and craquelure (optional);
  • foam roller.

Wash the surface with soapy water and dry with a clean cloth. Degrease with alcohol, especially those places where the application will be.

Cut out the desired picture and separate the lowest layer from the napkin. Apply a thin layer of PVA on the surface of the refrigerator and attach a drawing. Wait half a minute, run a roller over the picture so that the bumps go away.

Drying usually takes about 4-5 hours. After this, the edges of the drawing must be carefully sanded so that the borders are not obvious, coated with acrylic varnish in 2 layers.

It is not difficult to restore a refrigerator using decoupage technique. More often, using this technique, they decorate in the style of "Provence", "ethno", but it should also be in harmony with the rest of the furniture in the kitchen.
