Self-installation of ceiling curtain rods. How to hang a plastic ceiling curtain rod on a plasterboard base Attaching plastic ceiling curtain rods

Ceiling cornices are used to fasten curtains and curtains, and they also perform a decorative function. They are usually made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride). The curtain rod consists of a hollow rail and one or more parallel lines for various curtains. There is nothing complicated about how to attach a ceiling cornice; you can do this work yourself. It should not be forgotten that plastic is quite fragile material, so heavy curtains cannot be hung on slats made of it: they may break under the weight of the fabric.

Ceiling cornices are divided into types. According to design features they are:

  • one-;
  • two-;
  • three-;
  • four-row;

Based on the type of fastening, they are distinguished into installed ones:

  • on suspensions and brackets;
  • using a hole in the product.

Cornices can have the most different design, fancy shape, imitate expensive materials. With the help of these designs it is possible to decorate the room. You can see how it looks in the photo.

Choosing a ceiling cornice

The ceiling cornice should not interfere with the opening of the window. Therefore, it is placed at least 5 centimeters above the opening. The removal of the cornice from the wall is done in such a way that the curtains do not touch the ledge of the window sill, radiators, or window handles. If you plan to hang several types of curtains, then you should focus on the one that will be closest to the window.

As for the length, it is better that when the curtains are pulled apart, the opening is completely open. The optimal distance from the ends of the cornice to the window slopes is 30-40 centimeters. But this value may vary depending on the location of the window openings, the density and width of the curtains, as well as personal preferences.

For heavy curtains, it is recommended to use metal products, but durable, wide plastic will also work. It is better to attach them through the holes in the tire. When choosing a design, it is advisable to know how many curtains will hang on it - the number of tires depends on this. For example, if you plan to hang tulle, curtains and lambrequins, then you need to buy and figure out how to attach three-row ceiling cornices.

Attaching the ceiling cornice

The product is cut to the required length using a hacksaw and a square. Then the structure is assembled by putting the curved parts on the ends of the cornice. If the product is straight, then special plugs are installed so that the hooks do not fly off.

In the middle of the cornice is made using two drills with different diameters special hole. They begin to drill it in the front part of the product with a large drill - its diameter will allow the screw head not to protrude above the surface. When the size of the recess becomes equal to the height of the head, the drill is changed to a thinner one. The same holes are drilled along the entire length of the structure. The heavier the curtain fabric, the smaller the distance between fasteners should be.

To attach the cornice to the ceiling, use a hammer drill and a drill in concrete base drill a hole into which the dowel is then inserted. The structure is fixed with one screw. The cornice is leveled, the remaining marks are applied to the ceiling surface and holes are drilled. The structure is secured with dowel nails. To install wide cornices, it is recommended to make holes not in one, but in two rows.

Attaching plastic curtain rods to wooden ceilings is much easier. You just need to mark and secure the product using ordinary self-tapping screws.

Installation of curtain rods on brackets

Cornices mounted to the ceiling in the form of brackets are even easier to install, since they already have holes for fasteners. The operating algorithm is similar to the previous method, but there are some features.

Attaching cornices to plasterboard ceilings

Attaching ceiling cornices to plasterboard structures does not represent special difficulties, but it is recommended to hang only light fabrics on them. You should also choose a lightweight cornice. The work process is identical to that described above.

It's another matter if you plan to hang heavy curtains. First, the future location of the cornice is determined. In these places, wooden mortgages are installed, which will facilitate its more reliable attachment to the ceiling structure.

Installation of curtain rods on walls

Quite often it happens that first they do renovations in the room, and only then they start choosing a cornice. There will be no problems with how to attach the cornice to the ceiling if it is simply painted or covered with wallpaper. But if a tensioner or suspended structure, and the mortgages are not installed, it becomes impossible to attach the product to the ceiling. In this case, there are two exits, but they are mounted to the wall.

In the first case, brackets are used, they are matched to the width of the cornice and connected to it with self-tapping screws. In the second, a wooden mounting beam is installed under the ceiling on the wall and a structure for curtains is attached to it. But it will have to be decorated.

Installation depends on several factors:

  • on what surface of the building the fastening will be carried out;
  • the place is determined and prepared during the construction of walls or ceilings;
  • surface material;
  • the condition of the surface at the attachment point;
  • thickness;
  • Possibility to select a fastening unit.

In modern buildings, the surfaces for fastening products are multifaceted, from conventional vertical walls And horizontal surfaces to complex geometric spatial openings in studios.

When building a house, cottage, office, studio, the project may include places for curtains and the specifics of their fastening.

The material of the walls determines the design of the fastening. Materials that are not strong enough require reinforcement of the cornice mounting structure. As an example, stones made from natural shell rock, a popular building material in the south of Russia, do not have the strength of aerated concrete and the fasteners are different.

The places for the curtains must be identical to distribute the load evenly, otherwise distortions may occur over time.

The thickness of the mounting surface determines the support for the installation unit; a thin surface will not be able to support the product if the unit is not designed to withstand the resulting load.

Fastening units can be various types, the choice is determined by multiple factors from economic to aesthetic.

For the device to the place intended for fastening, it is necessary to select a product with a suitable length and design. They are always sold equipped with a fastening unit; you must ensure its functional reliability. Otherwise, the issue of modifying the fastener unit should be considered.

Attaching a string product with clamps or grommets requires the installation of tips at both ends that can withstand significant string tension.

For fastening to the ceiling, brackets are traditionally used, but fastening through holes in the console is possible. In this case, the use of brackets is technologically similar to installing a cornice to the wall.

There are some features of fastening to plasterboard ceilings. In such cases, special fasteners, glue or special mortgages are used.

How to attach to the wall

Fastening to the wall is preferable due to its simplicity, ease of implementation and subsequent changes and modifications, if such actions are carried out.

  • The cornice must be at least 10 cm below the ceiling and protrude 15 cm beyond the side dimensions of the window.
  • A length exceeding 2 meters requires the installation of an extra bracket.
  • Plasterboards on the wall require the use of long fastening bolts with a long expansion zone.
  • It is important that the product does not interfere with opening the window.

Required tools:

  • ladder;
  • roulette;
  • level;
  • hammer drill or drill;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver, hammer;
  • screws or dowels;
  • drills.

Sequence of actions:

  1. Mark the drilling location for the brackets. To do this, using a tape measure and a level, mark drilling points on the wall in accordance with the design of the bracket and the requirements for the location of the cornice.
  2. Insert a drill with the diameter of a dowel into a hammer drill or drill, drill holes in the wall to the required depth.
  3. At the drilling site, you need to pay attention to the density of the wall material. If the wall crumbles from minor loads, then installation must be carried out on maximum depth selecting the appropriate dowel and self-tapping screw. Insert the dowels into the resulting holes with a hammer.
  4. Use a screwdriver to secure the brackets, and hang the console, securing it with a screwdriver and screws.

How to attach a cornice to the ceiling

The fastening process begins with marking the locations for drilling holes for fastening dowels. It is important to control the coincidence of the symmetry axes of the window and the device, protrusions beyond the window dimensions, and the possibility of opening the window after installation.

The product must be attached securely, allowing the use of curtains of maximum weight of material; this determines the number of points for attaching the product to the ceiling. It is necessary to take into account the density of the material and the length of the dowels and, therefore, the drilling depth of the holes. It is difficult to calculate, but empirically it will be faster.

The tools required for fastening are similar to those used when installing to a wall, only instead of a ladder you may need a stepladder.

Installation sequence:

  1. Mark the installation locations with a tape measure.
  2. Select a drill whose diameter matches the fastening screw.
  3. Drill holes in the product for fastening; wide cornices are drilled in two rows.
  4. Applying it to the surface, mark the place for drilling the central fastening.
  5. Drill a hole with a drill with a diameter equal to the diameter of the dowel, and drive the dowel.
  6. Attach the console and attach it to the mounting location with a self-tapping screw and a screwdriver.
  7. Using the holes, mark the locations for drilling the ceiling and drill them.
  8. Drive in the dowels and secure the product with either fastening nails or self-tapping screws.
  9. If the device has brackets, then you must first assemble the product, and then proceed as described in the previous paragraphs.

How to mount on a plasterboard ceiling

If the ceilings in the room are made of plasterboard and the installation site was not reinforced with durable plasterboard overlays during construction, then only light curtain rods with light curtains can be used. This prerequisite due to the fragility of drywall.

Otherwise, the processes are identical to those described in paragraph 4, with the exception of the choice of cornice fasteners. It is necessary to use special bolts for drywall.

Strengthening fastening points for plasterboard and suspended ceilings.

For suspended ceilings, improper installation can lead to damage to the surface. For plasterboard ceilings Heavy cornices are not suitable. Therefore, to install such devices, it is necessary to refine the surface at the stage of installing drywall or preparing a stretch ceiling canopy.

All modifications come down to the manufacture of an installation gasket that eliminates the gap between the plasterboard and the ceiling panel or the stretched film and the solid panel. The dimensions of this product must be so accurate as not to spoil appearance surfaces with convex or concave areas at installation sites.

After installing such a product, the process is carried out as described in the paragraph above.

Conclusion

Fastening a product is not a difficult job, which, with maximum care and diligence, is accessible to anyone and the result will be a joy not only for the performer.

Today there are many various models cornices, which are designed for any type of curtains, are completely hidden from view under the curtains. The most popular are plastic models. Such curtain rods have a hollow tire inside and several working lines along which the curtain clamps move. If you are going to install such a model of cornice in your room, then first of all you will need to familiarize yourself with some recommendations in order to properly secure such a product. It is worth noting here that the product is made of plastic and will not be able to withstand overly heavy curtains, so you will have to limit the decoration of the room to lighter and more airy fabrics. Similar products have some differences in design, namely: single-row cornices, double-row products, three-row and four-row. In addition to this difference, there is also a difference in the ability to attach this element: directly through the holes in the cornice itself, or on hangers or brackets.

Plastic cornice

If you have chosen a plastic product as a holding element for curtains, then first of all you will need to remove exact dimensions on ceiling wall where the product will be located. In addition to the size, as well as the appearance of the product, it is worth deciding how best to secure the cornice. It is advisable that this nuance be resolved before choosing the most suitable model. Also, a lot depends on the curtains with which you decide to complete the interior design of your room.

To avoid any mistakes, it is advisable to use the following recommendations:

  • Fastening ceiling product to the wall located directly above the window opening should not in any way interfere with the free opening of the sashes. To avoid any interference when opening the window, it is advisable to place the cornice at least 5 cm above the entire window opening.
  • Also, curtains, which will subsequently become a window decoration, should not create any difficulties with access to the window, in addition, they should not touch the open sash or the window sill. IN in this case the cornice will need to be moved to the required distance.

Also, it is worth noting that in the case of using a composition of curtains, it is necessary to take into account the distance to the very last curtain to the window.

How to choose the right material and design

First of all, you should pay attention to the fabric of the curtains. For thick and massive curtains, a cornice made of durable plastic or metal is suitable. It will be most convenient to attach these structures to the selected wall through ready-made holes in the tire. Also, it is worth deciding in advance how many layers of curtains there will be, and also deciding on the presence of additional decorations, such as lambrequins. Based on this decision, it will be possible to determine the required number of working paths on the cornice. If you decide to choose this accessory for suspended ceiling, then it would be best to refuse large quantity working tunnels.

To fix the cornice on the ceiling wall, first of all, you need to cut off the rail required length. It all depends on which option you choose: straight, which will require special plugs, or rounded, which requires the use of additional rounded parts. Next, you will need to drill holes for the fasteners. On the front side, the cornice is drilled with a thicker drill so that the screw heads can be hidden inside the structure. In this case, it is worth paying attention that the heavier the curtains are hung, the more holes will be required to attach the structure. After this, it is necessary to attach the cornice to the ceiling wall so that the axes of the window opening and the cornice rail are symmetrical. Next, you can attach the structure. It is important to note that when using wide structures with several tracks, it is desirable that the fastening be made through two rows of holes.

Options for fastening cornices with suspended ceilings

If you decide to attach a finished cornice to a suspended ceiling, then it is advisable to follow the following sequence in your actions:

  • To begin with, to the clean ceiling covering timber is mounted from concrete, thickness equal to the distance from above to the tension fabric.
  • Further, in the places where the cornice is attached to the beam in tension fabric it is necessary to make special holes, and then glue special rings here.
  • Then, the structure is fastened through the previously prepared holes.

Also, there is another way to fix such a structure. In this case, the canvas is stretched to the bar, and the cornice itself is mounted next directly to the concrete.

As you can see, the answer to the question: how to attach a ceiling cornice is quite simple, and you do not need to make Herculean efforts. Everything is possible at home, with only necessary tool And required quantity free time. In conclusion, it is worth noting that the work is quite simple, but responsible, as it requires accuracy and precision from you, since when installing a cornice to a suspended ceiling, any mistakes are unacceptable and will cost you quite a lot. In addition, do not forget that curtains play a final role in the formation general style in the room, so from correct installation A lot depends on the cornice here.

Beautiful, properly selected curtains are an integral part of the interior. The overall perception of the room depends on how they are fixed. The best option Today, to secure them, there is a ceiling cornice, which allows you to visually increase the height of the room. Installing the structure does not require significant effort or large calculations, so you can fix the ceiling curtain rod with your own hands.

Classification

Modern ceiling curtain rods are classified depending on the material, method of fastening, profile design, size and shape. To make a ceiling cornice, manufacturers use three materials: wood, plastic, metal. Wooden structures more suitable for interior classic style. For rooms where all furnishings are selected according to modern style, will be more suitable metal structures. Lightweight plastic curtain rods are universal; they will look harmonious in almost any interior.

There are two types of ceiling structure mounting. Or it is hung from the ceiling using various fastening elements through a hole in the plank, or it is installed on brackets, which, in turn, are attached to the wall or ceiling.

Profile designs different models differ in the number of rows. In single-row systems there is only one track. In this case, you can hang the curtains in only one layer. The multi-row system is characterized by the presence of 2 to 4 tracks; it allows you to create multi-layer compositions from different textures textile fabric.

For classic version When hanging curtains with curtains, a two-row design is suitable. When adding a lambrequin, a three-row cornice will be required. The 4-row system allows you to create complex designs from several types of fabrics.

The shapes of cornices are of the following types:

  • Straight rectangular cornice. This type allows you to hang drapes, curtains and lambrequins in a straight line; this is the most common option and is called a profile cornice. A variation of the rectangular shape are rounded cornices, consisting of a main straight part and two separate arched elements attached to the main part (tire). Curtain rods of this design have recently become very popular due to their rounded edges, which give the curtains a neat appearance and smooth shape;

  • Profile cornice. These are cornices consisting of components, are suitable not only for windows located in one straight line, but also for windows located on different walls next to each other. Thanks to the arc-shaped elements, you can model corner option. The rotary elements completely coincide with the linear parts. Rows are formed along which runners with curtains move freely;

  • Flexible bay window cornice. A real find For panoramic windows, characterized by non-standard geometry. There are strings and profile options. The string structure consists of one or more metal cables stretched between brackets. The length of each string can reach 5-6 meters. The flexibility inherent in the string design allows you to effortlessly design walls with a complex configuration, as well as run them along the perimeter of the bay window protrusion. Any person can handle the installation of this structure.

But do not forget that string cornices are characterized by low bearing capacity, therefore they are not designed for the use of dense, heavy fabrics.

Light, airy fabrics (chiffon, organza, cambric) are more suitable for this design.

A more popular option for bay window cornices is the bus version. It is made either from aluminum or plastic.

Plastic profiles are easy to install, light in weight, affordable and can be used in any room, as they are resistant to moisture. Aluminum curtain rods are quite durable, have a long service life, an impressive appearance and are resistant to deformation.

Due to the flexibility of the design, it can be given any configuration; it can be bent up to 100 degrees. But at the same time, it has sufficient strength and, unlike a string structure, can withstand loads of up to 80 kg.

Any cornice can be decorated with a special strip - baguette. The most common material from which baguettes of different textures and colors are made is plastic. It is the one that has a low price and, most importantly, flexibility, which allows you to use a baguette in almost any cornice.

One of the main functions of a baguette is to hide some details, namely guides with hooks, flaws made when sewing curtains, construction defects in the area window opening. In addition, the baguette helps to visually model the space, participating in the interior style.

At what distance can you hang it?

Before purchasing a cornice, you need to take measurements of the window opening.

Optimal length should be such that when the curtains are pulled apart window opening was completely open.

Define given distance simple: it should not exceed 40 cm from the end of the cornice to window slope on each side. This is a standard value that allows you to open the window freely, but it can vary depending on the type of windows, the width of the curtains, and your preferences. If there are two windows located next to each other, the distance from the end of the cornice to the window is 30 cm.

At ceiling mount need to calculate optimal distance from the wall, in which the windows will open without any problems, the hanging curtains will not touch the window sill and the heating system. As a rule, a margin of 10-15 cm is enough.

For a ceiling structure attached to the wall using a bracket, it is necessary to leave a gap of 5 cm between top part fastening element and ceiling. This rule especially applies to round and string cornices. Rings or eyelets used for hanging curtains in these types, if there is no gap or a distance of less than 5 cm, can cling to the ceiling when moving. The height of 5 cm can vary in one direction or another, depending on the type of curtains and your preferences.

Before purchasing a cornice, you must also take into account the weight of the curtains that will be hung on one or another type of cornice, especially if you plan to hang a multi-layer composition.

Round cornices, no more than 1.9-2 m long and having standard pipe with a diameter of 16 mm, can withstand a load of up to 3 kg per row. For longer curtain rods, the pipe diameter should be greater than 16 mm to eliminate the risk of sagging.

Aluminum rail curtain rods can withstand significant weight of textile fabric. Tapestry curtains or thick drapes in combination with light curtains can be safely hung on such curtain rods, which can support up to 50 kg of fabric.

How to assemble and install it yourself?

In order to attach absolutely any cornice, you need tools. First of all, you need to prepare an impact drill or hammer drill. The choice of a particular tool depends on the type of wall being processed. If the wall is concrete, then you cannot do without a hammer drill, and if the wall is made of brick, then you can use a drill.

Both drills and hammer drills require pobedit drills. Moreover, there should be several of them, since the possibility of the drill getting into steel reinforcement resulting in damage or failure. Also, to install the cornice you will need a tape measure and a marker for marking.

Now let’s move on directly to the process of preparing the ceiling cornice, which consists of the following steps:

  • If the cornice is longer than necessary, then you need to cut off the extra centimeters using a square or a hacksaw. For ceiling mounting, a hole is drilled in the middle of the profile, but if you plan to hang several layers of heavy curtains, the location will be slightly different. A few centimeters are retreated from the center of the cornice in both directions so that the width of the product is divided by two holes into three equal parts;
  • Next, holes are drilled throughout the entire product, at a distance of 60 cm. If the curtains are very heavy, then this distance can be reduced to 20-50 cm. The rule here is: the less durable the ceiling, the smaller the distance between fasteners should be;
  • We apply a tire with ready-made holes to the ceiling and make marks on the surface either through one central one, or through two, located at an equidistant distance from the center (for heavy curtains). The cornice must be positioned strictly parallel to the window opening. Then the product is attached first in the center, and then aligned, and its edges are secured.

When installing the cornice on different surfaces There are some nuances that must be taken into account so that the product is firmly screwed and can withstand significant loads.

Features of installation to concrete

To work with a concrete surface, you need to have two drills with different diameters.

  1. First, a drill is used that has a diameter that allows the head of the screw to disappear flush into the surface of the product. The drilling depth should be equal to the height of the screw head.
  2. Then you need to drill the hole with a drill with a smaller diameter.
  3. In the marks on concrete surface made through holes on the surface of the tire, holes are made using a hammer drill and a concrete drill. The diameter of the drill must match the diameter of the dowel, as a rule, the value is 6 mm.
  4. Then a dowel is inserted into the resulting hole.
  5. The cornice is screwed to the ceiling with one self-tapping screw, it is leveled and marks are set, which are drilled and dowels are inserted into them in the same way as the first hole.
  6. After which the cornice is completely fixed.

On brackets to the wall

Brackets are special devices with which absolutely any cornice can be attached to the wall.

Most curtain rods are sold with additional parts, including a curtain rod that already has holes in it. But if they are not there, then they are drilled out on their own. On the side adjacent to the wall, the diameter of the hole should be larger diameter bolt by 1 mm. For a tighter fit of the corner to the surface, drilled hole the reverse side needs to be processed. If there is no hole on the surface to which the tire is directly attached, then you also need to drill it yourself.

On plasterboard, wooden and adobe ceilings

Drywall is a special material and in order to keep the structure on such a ceiling, two methods are used:

  • The first method is only possible during installation, because it involves the use of a mortgage wooden beam, to which the structure is attached. The beam itself is screwed to the ceiling and does not extend beyond the surface of the plasterboard material. In order for the structure to hold well, the dimensions of the beam must be larger than the dimensions of the cornice;
  • The second method allows you to attach the cornice using anchors that operate on the principle of an anchor. The strip, intended for lightweight textile fabrics, is attached using dowels shaped like a butterfly or an umbrella, which have the ability to open up to provide additional support. For multi-tiered design it is necessary to drill deeper holes and use anchor bolts.

To attach the structure to wooden ceiling you need to prepare screws and make correct markings. For heavy compositions, self-tapping screws are installed in 2 rows.

The adobe ceiling is a loose type of material and in order to secure the cornice to the ceiling it is necessary to use long and thick dowels coupled with a screw. This design, when screwed in, fills all the cavities, thereby ensuring a strong fastening of the cornice.

We attach it to the suspended ceiling

There are two methods by which attaching a cornice to a suspended ceiling is not difficult. But both methods require preliminary planning, since in both cases it is necessary pre-installation wooden beam. Let's look at them in more detail:

  • In the first case, the beam is mounted on the ceiling at the site of future installation at the same level as the canvas. Marks are made on the canvas at the location of the timber, along which the cornice is installed;
  • The second method is more original, but also more complex. The canvas is not stretched over the entire surface area, but with a slight indentation from the window opening, resulting in the formation of small niche. Its width should be no less than the width of the cornice. The cornice itself is attached to the true ceiling. A special profile is attached to the beam located next to the fixed profile. It is necessary to fix stretch film and hide the timber.

If the ceiling film is already stretched, then the cornice can only be attached to the walls using brackets.

No drilling

Currently, you can attach a cornice not only using fasteners, but also using liquid nails, withstanding loads of up to 80 kg per square centimeter.

  1. Before attaching the cornice, it is necessary to clean the ceiling surface from various contaminants (dust, paint, whitewash).
  2. Then the prepared area is carefully primed and leveled, and the surface of the cornice is degreased.
  3. Liquid nails are applied to the base of the panel in a zigzag pattern, after which the profile is pressed against the ceiling surface.
  4. In order to correct the structure, you just need to carefully move it in the required direction, without completely tearing it off from the ceiling.
  5. The glue will set in 20 minutes, and will dry completely if all conditions are met after three days. After three days, you can hang the curtains.

You can learn how to attach a cornice with liquid nails to a plasterboard ceiling in the video.

Installing the backlight

To make the curtains shine beautifully, you can install special lighting. An LED strip installed on the curtain is used as lighting. It is attached with an adhesive base to any surface. On the curtain, the backlight is located either between the grooves or on inside baguette strip. With this installation, the light emanating from the tape is not blocked by curtains and other elements.

In order to install such lighting, it is necessary to install a box in which the power supply with cables will be located at the stage of renovation of the room. It is mounted either on the wall or on the ceiling. The mounting location is selected in accordance with the location of the DC source.

See the intricacies of fastening more clearly LED strip to the ceiling cornice you can find out from the video.

How to install plugs?

There are two types of plugs used in bus-type ceiling cornices. One type is needed to mask self-tapping screws and is inserted after attaching the product to the ceiling. The second type is a part that not only prevents the hooks from falling out of the groove, but also covers the cut end of the profile.

If for strict classical and lush interiors in the Baroque style, hanging wooden cornices are more suitable, then for rooms with a modern modern design excellent choice There will be plastic cornices attached to the ceiling.

The good thing about a ceiling cornice is that it stands out less, thereby focusing attention on curtains and drapes, which can become a real decoration for any room.

In addition, hanging a ceiling cornice is quite simple, and the strength of its fastening is very high. Having hung the ceiling cornice correctly, you can forget about it until the next renovation.

Complete set of ceiling cornices and tools necessary for their installation

When buying a ceiling cornice, you need to check the completeness of its configuration, the main element of which is the profiled cornice itself. plastic element. Its upper side is flat, and the lower side has one, two or three grooves with profiled edges, to which hooks are attached, used to secure curtains.

The main profile is sold in sizes from 1.2 to 6 m in length. This allows you to create a cornice of any length, because it can either be sawed off or several elements put together. In addition, you can also buy rotating elements - 45 or 90 degree corners, thanks to which you can form different curly shapes of curtain rods and curtains.

Scheme for attaching a ceiling cornice for curtains to the ceiling.

Additional elements included in the kit may include special plugs that limit the movement of the hooks on which curtains are hung. In addition, in some cases, brackets for mounting to the wall may be needed, used when it is impossible to attach it to the ceiling. And finally, the kit may also include such decorative elements, like self-adhesive tapes that can be hung on the front plane of the main profile.

In order to properly hang the product itself, you need the simplest tools:

  • electric drill;
  • screws with dowels;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • pencil or marker;
  • hand saw for metal.

How to hang a ceiling cornice correctly

Hanging such a product is very simple, which is one of its main advantages. You just need to follow a simple step-by-step procedure.

First of all, you need to decide on the layout of the cornice, on which the length of its main elements will depend. If it's just a straight line along the window, it's very simple. You need to measure the length and cut the profile to the required size with a hacksaw. When using rotating elements near walls, the corresponding distance from the wall must be taken into account. But it happens that curtains or curtains have to be hung not at the window, but in the middle of the room and not just in a straight line, but with turns and bends. In this case, a diagram is drawn up, necessary elements, and then each of them is mounted separately.

If the purchased profile already has mounting holes, then they are used for fastening. If the cornice is sold without holes, then they are drilled with a drill, taking into account that the screw head subsequently firmly holds the profile along with the entire mass of the curtains. These holes will not be noticeable after the product is completely installed, so there is no need to make them too far apart from each other. On average, the distance between them should be about half a meter.

Next, you should attach the profile to the place where you plan to hang it, and using a pencil or marker, mark the places where you need to drill holes for screwing in screws. After that, using a drill, holes are drilled in the ceiling, and plastic dowels are inserted into them.

Once again, placing the profile in place of the fastener, screw in all the screws one by one. Flexibility plastic product is quite large, and it should not break or burst, but it is still better to support it and not suddenly let go of the part that has not yet been screwed on. This warning applies primarily to those who carry out the installation process alone. After the main profile is screwed, the rotating elements are attached to the ceiling in the same way, if necessary.

By running curtain hooks along special internal longitudinal holders, you can, if necessary, limit their movement with special plugs and limiters. The last element of the work is decorative pasting plastic cornice self-adhesive tape, which can be made to look like wood or any other color scheme, selected depending on the overall interior of the room.

After all the work on installing the cornice has been completed, you can hang curtains and curtains. The hooks on the ceiling cornices are quite convenient, and the curtains are attached to them quite simply, and the guide grooves are made in such a way that the curtains slide very easily and smoothly.
